Doc "cautious" about the team chemistry this year.
Doc Rivers: "Chemistry is a delicate thing. I understand that, and I'm as cautious as anyone with it. I guarantee you, I'll be keeping my eye on it. ... I don't know yet if we can make it work. It is going to be interesting, that's for sure."

yep...
Everyone’s worried how the ‘Little’ 3 will gel in Miami….some will worry how the one (hopefully soon to be 2) ring circus will work out in Beantown. Personally, I already bought my courtside seats here in Memphis. Wouldn’t miss this for anything!
well we had strong personalities last year and we just added to them
Shaq, Wafer, DWest will affect chemistry for sure. The good thing is they can all be discarded if they get too much out of line. Also, assuming Shaq is a model citizen, getting him to mesh well basketball wise with our defense will be very tough.
The good news is
The good news is we have an established system with KG, PP and RayRay as the lockeroom leaders and alpha group. while rondo has emerged as a leader on the court, he must admittedly still take a backseat to the big 3 when it comes to in house issues. In Miami on the otherhand, we know they have their big 3 but will their egos fall in line properly? Everyone thinks DWade is the leader, but who calls themself a King and takes crap from anyone? I think Doc will be able to handle these new guys just as well as Tony Allen, Rasheed et al in the past.
Chemistry is a legit concern
The team has talent and depth, but does it have chemistry…especially with the new editions ???
I assume the chemistry will be ok but we will not know for sure until they start playing the games for real in the fall..
I'd like to be listening on the line when Doc and Ainge are discussing team personalities.
(But naturally, I’d keep quiet about it all.)
I think all of these guys fully understand the Celtic tradition, and know that the formula works. Danny is ruthless and cold, and Doc knows how to get the most out of his players, no matter who they are.
This is going to be an extremely entertaining basketball year in Boston, for all the right reasons. These people all have something to prove, and they will stop at nothing.
KG will be an absolute ANIMAL with these guys, and Shaq will be his foil.
Doc has claimed many times that 'He can coach ANYONE'
As long as this team wins then it will be easy. If this team goes on a losing spree & goes into dysfunctional mode then it could get ugly….players choosing sides….back of the plane player only meetings…where you go in with 1 problem & come out with 10….Anarchy….Pouting…. Cliques….Mandela would be stomping mad revoking the ubuntu charter
Just win Cs & everything will take care of itself. But most of all put the biggest beatdowns imaginable on the lake, s. beach, magicians, deer, & da bulls.
I agree, it's a big risk
putting all of these personalities together. Winning solves just about everything; I guess the true test will be the first losing streak.
I was wondering, though – I follow the C’s pretty closely and I don’t remember Doc saying what you have him quoted ‘many times’ in your subject. Do you have a link to one of those?
Wow...Is he refering to Shaq? Nate?
I think he is refering to Shaq a and Nate. These two got to keep an eye on…..
As many poster have said, the tough part comes if there's a losing streak...
If the team wins, you can’t complain or you look like a jerk.
If the team is losing, though, there’s a sense that whatever is being done isn’t working. If that’s the case, then the players on the bench start to think, “Well, if the players who are getting the minutes aren’t getting the job done, why don’t I get more minutes?” If the people asking that are rookies, then they’re easier to control. Next year, though, the C’s will have players on the bench who have been All-stars; that thought is going to go through their minds, and Doc will really have to earn his paycheck to keep everyone on the same page.
I think Doc knows what he’s getting into and will do as well as anyone possibly could in that situation. There aren’t that many coaches around that carry enough respect with the players to accomplish that.
It all comes down to winning.
This is partially why I think opening night is ALMOST a must win.
Getting off to a good start against new rival is a must.
