Could we get Rudy Fernandez?

Yo what up.

With the summer filled with uncertainty for Blazer Swingman Rudy Fernandez, I just wanted to know how other Celtic Fans feel about this. Everyone who follows Basketball / NBA in general will know that Rudy wants out of Portland, and Im pretty sure that I read a while ago that Boston were heavily interested, Rudy would be a great backup behind Paul Pierce and would be a massive upgrade over Marquis Daniels imo

Could we ignite a trade with Portland and bring Fernandez to Boston? Rudy would be a great Backup behind Paul Pierce who is aging slowly but surely, I know Marquis Daniels is the backup 3, but Im sure most Celtic Fans would prefer Rudy behind Pierce

Just wanted to throw it out there to Ya'll and see if a Trade could be worked out, with his salary being relatively low, Im sure we could sort something out

Im out, Peace

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

danny choked with Daniels

total flop last year—real waste of money and room for a real replacement like RUDY F. or Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo is under contract....

…as is Rudy Fernandez. We’d have to trade to get either one of them.

REALLY

Before he got hurt we were like 27-5 and he was playing well. After he came back, his play went down hill. However, he (Quizy) can play SF which Rudy can’t.

However, I have no problem with us acquiring Rudy for draft picks, but only one 1st rd pick. The guy has talent and just might be able to replace Rayu in 2 years. He could provide a good scoring threat and 3 pt shooter of the bench.

Rudy is a very talented guy and I’m all for trying to acquire him, but at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, Portland wants a kings ransom and one that Danny is not ready to meet and I agree.

It's absolutely possible

It depends on what the Blazers are willing to take, and what other teams are willing to give. Fernandez is a super cheap 1-year contract of 1.2 million, which means the Blazers are in no rush to get him off the books and he may net them a more valuable player mid-season whether he plays in the meantime or not.

What would you offer? You have to start with Avery Bradley. And…?

Where u been?

dude we talked bout this all summer O_O
we offered first roud pick for Rudy portland passed ….. if anything we wont get him till the January

@Zappo- bra Daniels started the season out nicely. He was doing his thing up until he got injured and never regained full form plus tony allen took his spot

Hard work can beat talent any day of the week....

oh yeah January is wishful thinking that is if he’s not around still

Hard work can beat talent any day of the week....

Would this make Rudy officially a dead horse?

because some are really beating this trade to death…

Aquiring ‘Melo is another dead horse that don’t need any more beating.

what

Melo is a super star——He would fit in better than West or wafer—-real sad and disappointing!! Season will reflect these weaknesses—Danny threw ball out of bounds again——-im just glad he got Shaq to help while Perkins is recovering,,,

by zappo007 on Sep 8, 2010 1:21 AM EDT up reply actions

If you would try to understand a few of the basic concepts of the NBA CBA,

you would know that the additions made to the team by Danny Ainge were anything but “real sad and disappointing”. You have it exactly backwards. The season will reflect these weaknesses strengths.

by GetYourSoxOn on Sep 8, 2010 7:03 AM EDT up reply actions

I hope your right

I love the Celtics and want them to win—I just don’t see real shooters to spell real talent——-Carmelo would be in that category—not Daniels, West, Wafer….these are average players not same caliber as Pierce or Allen—Carmelo and Rudy both would be better suited in Celtic uniform.. Good Luck though with what you got—-ehhh!

What is slipping peoples mind is!

Rudy has star potential, that kid can be an all star someday, after ray is gone Rudy could be our starting 2 and average 18ppg. I think giving up 1st and a 2nd would be well worth it.

yes--

But for Carmelo a proven scorer—-and rudy—better 2 than daniels and west

You've been posting about 'Melo a lot

without providing a scenario that has a snowball’s chance in hell of landing him…

Exactly HOW would the C’s acquire Carmelo Anthony? “Livingston, Gaffney, Daniels, and 1 pick” isn’t even going to come close. The Nuggets already HAVE bench players; why would they accept the Celtics’ bench for their superstar?

by Stanford_Fan on Sep 8, 2010 1:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed.

I get tired of healing all the “Get this, do that” talk, not just about Melo, but a lot of players. Like Danny can just waive a magic wand or hypnotize Denver’s front office into making these trades.

There’s no chance in hell Melo plays in Boston, we just don’t have the pieces.

by Sizzlack on Sep 8, 2010 9:22 AM EDT up reply actions

thats the problem with getting

great talent on Celtics team—FIND A WAY OR MAKE ONE—-if you are going to succeed you get what you need and NOT ACCEPT MEDIOCRITY AND expect your team to WIN BIG!!!

by zappo007 on Sep 8, 2010 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions

REALLY

OK—HOW’S THIS—-you are in a problem financially—-you loose and choke the last game in 4th quarter——-each player should have taken a pay cut to allow talent like Carmelo to be made——but no -give pierce and allen full pay and leave team to hang out and dry—-that is bad business—-whole team should have got together to save a sinking ship——and what happened????

by zappo007 on Sep 8, 2010 10:17 PM EDT up reply actions

That's crazy...

First, the players under contract CAN’T just voluntarily take a pay cut; it’s against the CBA (which you might want to READ, by the way).

That leaves the two players who opted out, but in order to fit ‘Melo, they would have had to be willing to play for free, practically. The C’s could have traded them for ’Melo, but then why would he want to come to what is, essentially, a depleted roster?

Nothing you are posting makes any sense to anyone who actually knows how this business works…

Postings

It seems we are getting less knowledgeable people posting when they say “Let’s get Melo”.

These posters don’t understand the basics of salary caps.

Please get more understanding of how the NBA works before you post.

THANKS!!!!!!!

Shame Shame Shame

Shame on anybody who thinks Rudy would be a better back up for Paul Pierce than Daniels, I mean really where is this all coming from, nobody said anything about Rudy during the season EVER, he cant handle playing behind an All Star without being a head case, he’s never put up numbers better the Daniels, he doesn’t play the small forward position, he doesn’t play defense, and hes slow, V Walfer pooped all over him lol really tho, watch it on youtube. Even though Rudy is a good passer, hes still not team minded, hes not willing to sacrifice anything to put the team first (not a winner) he’s basically having a hissy fit as we speak, complaining about how the team is not bending to his game. Oh please Daniels aint great but Rudy would not be an improvement on this team.

by Seph on Sep 15, 2010 11:22 AM EDT reply actions

very accurate.

I’ve watched Rudy turn from my favorite rookie in years to the most annoying cry baby Portland has had in years. Its sad, he not bad, but the constant negative comments get old extremely fast. And you’re dead on, he doesn’t play much D and is absolutely not a 3. He can only play the 2.

RIcky Davis

Although I’ve never seen Rudy play, your description sound eerily like deja-vu Davis.
