I could have gotten $8 million from Atlanta and Detroit, but it wasn’t about that. It was about being somewhere and being seen and winning.

Hey look on the bright side...
  1. is pretty high up on his list right?! Right after being noticed!

Ummm

That was supposed to be a number 2 not the number 1… (crazy auto edit)

BTW, Semih Ruled

$8-10m

Hate to say it liam, but for $8-10m I would gladly suit up for the Hawks or Pistons. No way I could get by on veteran’s minimum. ; )

This is very encouraging...

because what Shaq is really saying is this, being seen is the most important thing to him at this point in his career. He is paving the way for his second career. Sure, he already has been but the fact that he says he could have gotten a lot more money elsewhere says that him being seen is worth more then the few extra million he would have gotten in Atlanta. Money is much more motivating then the ‘revenge’ against Kobe card everyone has been saying. I like this a lot.

I dont’ believe a word of it but I’m glad he’s here.

LOL! I kind of agree, but...

I do think he wants to win another ring pretty badly. I just don’t know how hard he is willing to work for it.

@17wasEZ – yeah i agree, his best chance is here in Boston

Excellent point 17wasEZ!

My guess is that he will take Sheed’s approach.

Shaq

honestly i think its bs that he was offered 8 or 10 million

by gabe pruitt on Sep 8, 2010 7:15 PM EDT reply actions

8 million over 2 years? Why is that hard to believe?

by Silent Storm on Sep 8, 2010 8:38 PM EDT reply actions

I Doubt Shaq Needs Money

When you consider taxes and what Shaq makes in total the difference between 10 mill and what the C’s are giving him is meaningless.

Shaq has complained about every team he has played with. He now now has the chance to play with a TEAM that cares only about winning and a coach that is open and honest with his players. Shaq said the thing that made up his mind was his conversation with Doc at Doc’s home where Doc was brutally honest with him. Not many players get the chance to play for a great organization from top to bottom. When you’re on the floor playing that’s all you’re thinking about. So I believe what Shaq says, and once Doc figures things out I think Shaq can be a very effective player for us as a team member. Also, the humor rating will skyrocket. I can’t wait to see Shaq and Baby visit school kids together.

He'll be seen alright
