Celtics Look to Start Strong on the Road Out West
Tonight is a big game for the Celtics as it will set the tone for a difficult portion of their schedule. Its the first of four games in six days all on the road out west. They play tomorrow night in a back to back in Phoenix and then travel to LA to face the Lakers on Sunday. That's three tough games in four nights, so the C's should try and separate themselves early.
Portland has been playing well despite missing Greg Oden, Brandon Roy, Marcus Camby, and several other players all due to serious injuries. The two teams played a tough game in Boston on December 1st, a 99 - 95 win for the Celtics.
On that night the Cetlics built up a comfortable 16 point lead late in the fourth quarter before giving up a 15 - 0 run by the Blazers cutting the lead to a mere point. Fortunately Ray Allen hit a huge three with 10.7 seconds left to put the C's back up 4 points and won the game.
Matchups to watch:
KG versus LaMarcus Aldridge: Aldridge has come on strong in a late all star push, without Marcus Camby for tonight Aldridge has to pick up the rebounding slack for the Blazers to make this a game.
Andre Miller versus Rajon Rondo: Miller is a big PG who loves to attack the paint. Rondo and the Celtics help defense have to combine to keep Miller from getting close to the rim where he's a very efficient scorer.
My Take:
I think the C's carry over their energy from Perkins return against the Cavs and storm out to a big lead on the Blazers. Portland will make a couple of runs to close the gap, but the Celtics will pull away for a 100-92 win that isn't in doubt in the closing minutes.

Should be a fun game tonight against Portland. The Blazers are missing Roy and Camby and of course Oden for the season again. The Celtics hopefully will be ready to play in their first game out West this season.
This trip out West has been a near disaster the last 2 seasons – if the C’s can go 3-1 that would be a great trip…

Does anyone see a similarity between LA and KG?
I think their play style is similar, well offensively at least.
LA doesn't rebound like KG, and never has
He’s also not much of a defender, or passer. They’re both tall PFs who shoot a lot of jumpers, but I don’t think of them as similar players at all honesty.
wesley mathews
is the guy im worried about. he has been the guy carrying the blazers.
aldridge is good and all and has been playing great but i think we can slow him down. wesley im not so sure about. i think he gives ray trouble.
center is a weak spot for them right now and we need to attack it early and often. pryzbila isnt fully healthy and is playing that way too. cunningham is really a center and is undersized at 6’8. sean marks is nothing to worry about. they signed chris johnson from the D-league but havent played him yet. kids been great and i hope he plays because i think he impresses and earns a roster spot for the rest of the year. he will rebound and block shots.

im gonna be all up on you like a spider monkey!
i can just see delonte west winning a game of poker against lebron, throwing down the cards he yells, "who's your daddy!"...."oh, sorry man"

Who's stayin' up?!
The only discouraging thing about this game to me was that Boston was without KG and Perk. Having those two guys back would make them so much stronger, that I am not sure we can win against them.
