Most memorable Celtic Moment

This is short and sweet...my son and I were talking tonight (he is 6 so has a very limited history) about our most memorable Celtic moments. What occured to me in the middle of the conversation was that he HAS memorable Celtic moments already. Funny enough his was when Paul Pierce got "mean at Dwayne Wade and got kicked out of the game". He was very upset at the time and it has stayed with him to this day. Still upsets him to talk about (ahhh...my boy!). I then shared my favorite Celtic moment with him...Of all the games I have watched over the past forty years and minewas watching KG hold the trophy like a newborn baby as he dedicated it to those in "Sota". That really moved me. The genuine love this guy had for his old city and fans and the absolute passion attached to it all. How cool is it that (so far) our two most memorable moments come from the same era! It is sad to think it's possible we have seen them run together for the last time. I recently introduced him to Celtic Blog and he has been checking it with me daily. We were both wondering...what is your most memorable Celtic moment?

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Game 4 2008 NBA Finals.

In a room with alot of laker fans. I wanted to leave so bad becuase the lakers couldnt miss! They were up by 24 points. I was very tempted to leave but something told me to stay and finish the game, and boy was i rewarded. The most memerable play from that game was Ray crossing vujacic and laying it in to ice the game. Good times.

I felt the same way..but was on the couch (:

I remember that move vividly…and the look on Vujacic’s face.

Game 3 2011 Playoffs

In my limited Boston history, I’d have to say the moment I saw Rondo come back out of the locker room after one of the worst NBA injuries was amazing. He sealed the deal with a steal from Chris Bosh and finished it off with a nonchalant dunk to blow the roof of of the Garden. Pure Celtic hustle.

My son wears a #9 jersey in every sport he plays because of Rondo. Toughness like that makes me feel confident he chose the right guy…I see other kids with Lebron jerseys and cringe at the thought!

Game 5 in the Garden. Bird steals the ball, Bird steals the ball!! My dad, who was from Brockton, MA originally, and the reason I’m a huge Celtics fan, and my two brothers and I were in a hotel room in PA because we were visiting some family there. One of the most unbelievable plays I have ever seen. We all went nuts in that room after that play, and shortly after that, we got a call from the hotel manager telling us we needed to keep it down, or leave. I guess we were a little loud during the whole game! Not only was it one of my most memorable Celtic moments, it will forever be one of the most memorable moments with my dad and brothers for various reasons – the biggest being that my dad just passed in May..

It was an incredible steal..what often gets lost in the shuffle about that play was how heady my man DJ was to anticipate it all and dive to the rim. The finish wasn’t as easy as it looked either.

Bird often calls DJ the toughest/best player he ever played with.

Agreed

That was probably the hardest part of the play!!

On a seperate note…sorry to hear of your dad passing. That’s what being a fan is all about… sharing those moments that no one can take away! My best memories of my dad are often associated with sports..the Sox. Pats, Bruins and Celts.

Thanks, appreciate that

Yep, most of mine were either of us watching or talking about sports, or him coaching me in some sport. I grew up in the DC area, so I’m a huge Skins and Capitals fan, but my dad did pass on his love for the Celtics at an early age. I will definitely miss talking to him during the season, if we have one, about how the team looks. That’s why I’m really hoping they get something done. I want to be able to watch the Celts this year so I can at least feel like my pops is still around..

Agree 100%

The steal was great and gets alot of the attention but DJ making that very difficult catch and acrobatic shot deserves just as much credit also.

One play with out the other would of denied us that great Celtic moment in history.

Birds steal & DJ’s made layup go hand and hand like peanut butter & jelly, milk & cookies …….lol.

Game 3 '02 Eastern Conference Finals

Drinking beers and brooding on my friends couch with a 26 point deficit and everyone else wanting to change the channel (casual fans).

The amazing comeback and the sheer resultant jubilation. Crushing a crappy sidewalk coffee table… Best sports memory of my life.

I remember that game

Just wish we would’ve won the series and played the lakers in the finals.

My most memorable Celtic moment was .. .

game 7 of the 1981 eastern conference finals …Celtics vs. Sixers.

That series was a battle as the C’s were down 3-1 and fought back to win the game in the final seconds of game 7 at the old garden.

My favorite moment in that series actually came after the final buzzer rang, when the Garden crowd dashed to center court and surrounded Bird as he jumped up and down in joy and disbelief that he and the C’s had just defeated the Sixers.

I never get tired of reliving that moment .
For those of you who also enjoy reliving that moment or for those of you too young to recall it, go to the video link below ( at about the 7:45 time period) to enjoy one great moment in Celtics history.
