So, Read Any Good Books Lately?
By now, you are probably checking in on this site for 3 main reasons.
- To check and see if the lockout somehow ended last night. (It didn't)
- To discuss lockout issues and updates. (Sorry, I just don't have the stomach for that today and by now you know where to get more in depth coverage on the subject)
- A diversion. (I'm happy to try to help)
So, to repeat the title, have you read any good books lately? If so, please share with the class.
Note: There's also a 23 page topic on this in the forums. But feel free to repeat yourself.

Do you like this story?

The Big Short
Was pretty good. Michael Lewis of sports books Moneyball and The Blind Side really captures how self centered and pathetically greedy Wall Street was in 2006-2008. Which reminds me of the NBA players at the moment.
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
by Alexander Solzhenitsyn….. a short brillant story of survival of a man’s soul and the toughness of his will.
Is it Soup Yet?
I'm not much of a reader
only few pages a day.
The book’s called “Jeff Green on excruciating pain of Stern’s pessimism”.
Finished Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky for the second time, ultimate favorite book

Move on to War and Peace. :) I dare you.
Ha haa. I was always intimidated by how freaking long it was. I’ll give it a bash though

I've stopped reading after that one
It’s like 5 books of 5 different types in one. Family and love, war, politics, adventure and philosophy.
The Screwtape Letters
Compelling, insightful and witty classic from CS Lewis. One of the true gems that is often overlooked.
Do yourself a favor and read it!
GP
Read it in high school.
All of C.S. Lewis’ stuff is good, but Screwtape Letters is especially good.
Screwtape is a wonderful book
also loved the Space Trilogy and of course Narnia
Faith and Sports - an essay by Jeff Clark
read
Tale of Two Cities by Dickens. trying to get back into the Classics. Can only read so much Stephen King at once. Slow start and have to say, improbable ending but at least now I get why the final line is quoted so often
in the middle of Tom Sawyer (yes, shame on my public education for not having these as mandatory reading)
no one can ever read too much King
The Dark Tower. All 7 books will get you through this MFIN LOCKOUT
Jeffrey M Melhorn
already read them
loved the series. thumbs up for your reading tastes
if you've gone through tthe King books
then Try Greg Isles. His books are Fn sweet. If you ever saw the movie “Trapped” with you guessed it Kevin Bacon. That was based of his books 24 Hours which was renamed Trapped when the movie came out. Dead Women, Footprints of God and Spandoux Phoniex are some I really liked by Greg. He got all types of good stories of who done it and all. VERY WELL WRITTEN
Jeffrey M Melhorn
The Night Eternal by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan
The third book in a trilogy about zombie vampires :)

Not looking to get into a political discussion here
But I read Demonic by Ann Coulter. When you look at all the OWS stuff going on, the book makes her seem like a prophet! And it’s very funny, if you get that dry right-wing, political humor.
I must plead guilty....
I have not read any good books lately, for awhile and to take a step further do not like reading books altogether.
I do not mind reading magazines or news papers either online or via hardcopy, but for some reason I just have never been a fan of reading books.
I hope no youngsters are reading my comments as I am not the greatest example for them…lol.
Little Princes
by Conor Grennan
.. just finished it last night while i was listening to old man brady on the radio :(
The Given Day
by Dennis Lehane…about Boston Police officers fight to unionize including other topics such as immigration, racism etc..truly one of the better books I have read in a while
This Summer & Fall I've been reading...
Hamlet (again)
The Way of Kings – Brandon Sanderson
Mistborn – Sanderson
Dune
the Hunger Games trilogy
the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy
…and another book I’m not allowed to tell you about until it gets released (teaser!)
Faith and Sports - an essay by Jeff Clark
Wrote my own book
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002HMCLFQ
And I recently signed with the literary agent who also reps Bill Russell and Larry Bird.
How cool is that for a lifelong Celts fan!
Every now and again I read Rules For My Unborn son by Walter Lamond. Great way to spend 10 minutes
