Around SBN: L'Equipe Claims He's Coming To Chelsea On Five Year Deal

Deshawn Stevenson = toughness

I would just like to point out that I became a Celtics fan because of their toughness. Led by KG , Boston is intimidating in the perspective of different teams. But through the years since their last championship in 2008, the players that brought toughness gradually vanished through injuries, free agency and trade. James Posey, Leon Powe, Tony Allen (ouch), Nate Robinson, Kendrick Perkins (ouch again), after reading their names, you know what we lacked in the last few years. Recently there were trades surrounding Chris Paul, and the C's are one of the teams interested. At last, CP3 has been dealt to a below .500 team which is fair. And another bright thing to that is, Rondo will still be in Green. Seriously, I think CP3 is soft. Yes he is a well-polished PG, a scorer, and a floor-general, but it doesn't necessarily mean he is tough. More like of a Dirk Nowitzki? And Rondo, more like of a KG. I agree that overall Paul is the better player, but Rondo can no doubt offset/stop Paul in a match-up.

We only have one roster spot left and I believe that will given to a Center. But overall we also lack the perimeter-defender and scorer off the bench that was widely evident in the playoffs or in games that have multiple stars or scorers. Very good example would be Miami, the C's struggled mostly because no player in our roster besides Pierce (and Allen?) to contain Wade and James. They experimented on Green to match with their speed and athleticism, but he seems lost. Danny Ainge even showed his regret of not pushing hard to retain Tony Allen after the playoffs, it is not the scarcity of the Center position that made them lost in the playoffs according to him, but the lack of a defensive stopper in the perimeter. Just this day a report in Hoopshype said that the Mavs are not interested with Stevenson anymore, maybe because they just have signed Vince Carter and our very own Delonte West. I think it will be unlikely that Ainge will sign Stevenson, but I hope he will. He answers 2 of the things we lack off the bench (scoring punch/defense). Corey Brewer could have been great, but Ainge was not able to utilize that situation, Brewer and Fernandez was only dealt to the Nuggets for a 2nd rd pick. That could have been a steal, but Ainge is Ainge. Bottomline, I hope Stevenson will be a Celtic. He will solidify our toughness that will lead us to championship.

Banner 18 to TD Garden. Go Celtics!

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.
