Around SBN: 7 Important Questions About The Heat Vs. Celtics Series

FA and Trade Ideas to address our SF and C needs..

'Christmas is just around the corner...' and so is the start of the NBA season! But as everyone knows, the Celtics' current lineup still needs some tweaking if we're even dreaming of Banner 18 in June. Our center and small forward positions lack some depth but as the season nears, more and more free agents have gone off the market. So maybe DA has to be crafty and facilitate some trades. But I don't want to blow up the team so our trade chips should only be AB, JO and our 1st or 2nd draft picks. If we're lucky, maybe we can still get some valuable but cheap players in FA. Here are my suggestions:

Star-divide

1. Trade for NOH's Chris Kaman or sign Kyrylo Fesenko.. sign Al Thornton..

Kaman is a very good center who is not only big but also gives us another option offensively, especially in the low block.. Fesenko might be foul-prone, but he can be cheap and can clog the lane as good as any big out there.. Thornton is athletic and has a good range, good enough JG replacement..

2. Trade for Kings' Jason Thompson and Donte Greene..

They maybe young but are definitely good players.. If the Kings re-sign Dalembert, JT might be expendable.. He's big, athletic, can score, good defender and not a headcase like Demarcus Cousins.. Greene can shoot threes, athletic and long..

3. Trade for Oklahoma City's Cole Aldrich and James Harden..

Aldrich may be stiff, but he still has some good upside.. And Harden, well, who wouldn't want 'The Bearded One' ? Though this might be difficult to pull off , Maybe Presti would have the heart to make up for the Jeff Green trick he pulled on Danny Ainge.. oh, well..

4. Trade for Rockets' Thabeet and Courtney Lee..

Though some people here don't like Hasheem, 7'3'' quality defensive centers just don't grow on trees.. If Houston gets Dalembert and amnesties/waives Thabeet, I hope we get to sign him.. Lee is very good offensively and defensively, and has Finals experience to boot!

5. Trade for Jazz' Mehmet Okur and CJ Miles..

Both can give us a boost offensively, especially stretch the floor by shooting threes.. Good enough defensively.. Both are on expiring contracts though Okur gets 10M so it might be hard to make the salaries match in a trade..

6. Trade for Cavaliers' Ryan Hollins and Omri Casspi..

Hollins might be thin but still a serviceable 7-footer.. I like Casspi's toughness and he can also be clutch.. His contract is 'til next season but it's relatively cheap at 2M..

7. Trade for Wolves' Brad Miller and Martell Webster..

Miller might be quite old and injury-prone, but he's still a very dependable role player.. Another issue is he's still signed for next year for 5M.. Webster is a very good shooter and good enough defensively..

It might be hard to execute these trades given our limited resources but they're still plausible.. And most of these players have expiring contracts so it wouldn't hurt us much next year..

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I’m not trading for superstars so some of these trades might push thru..

I think brad miller is hurt

And I’ve already taken so much shit for suggesting the thunder and jazz trades I love both of those ideas I also want to trade the pacers to get Hibbert and granger. Id send any of the big 3 JO AB and one of our first round picks to get them Id hate to make pierce leave but it would make us so much better. I really think they would be interested in Allen the most of any of those

You’re getting a lot of crap with your trade ideas because you want to include the core four.. My suggestions only include AB, JO and draft picks because I don’t want to blow up the team (not just yet)..

Chris Caveman would be a perfect fit!
