Our Pau Gasol Deal

I know it's just preseason, but Derrick Favors had a pretty good game the other night and I know the Jazz are high on the guy. Maybe they'd like to clear some minutes for him. I'd think Millsap would be an easier get for the Celts, but if there was a way to pry Al Jefferson away from them, it might solve some of our problems.

This might be enough:

O'Neal, Bradley, Johnson and 2 1st round picks

Now I'm not sure if Johnson is tradeable since he was just signed over the summer, but I doubt it would matter much to Utah. Give them someone else. It's the picks they'd be after. We can't give them 2 consecutive years' picks, but maybe we can trade the 2012 Clippers pick and our 2013. I doubt Ainge will let the Celts become a lottery team next year...

And the move wouldn't hurt the cap space situation much. There'd still be plenty of money to wave at 2nd-tier free agents like Nick Young or whoever. Channeling Rick Pitino: Dwight Howard is not walking through that door (unless the trade is for Josh Smith instead - then maybe, but I still doubt it.)

By the way, I'm sure Utah could get more for a young 20/10 guy like Big Al but the above package is all we have to offer. I don't think it's completely unrealistic.

If the headline confuses anyone, see the Lakers trade for Pau Gasol. I think this would be sort of similar.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

jefferson makes 14 milliion, so the celts have to trade about 11.5 in order to have it match salaries… only guys that are currently tradeable are rondo, allen, pierce, garnett, o’neal and bradley.. the rookies arent bc just signed deals.. bass can’t bc just traded for him, and other guys like wilcox aren’t tradeable yet bc just signed..

so, the only way to match salaries is to include one of the big 4.. o’neal and bradley are not enought.. i would love the proposed trade if it were…I even would have considered trading allen before the green injury to get jefferson as I like his rebounding and inside scoring.. but I dont think ainge breaks up his core for the guy which he would have to..
