Is This Necessary?

Though Utah only recently started their rebuild, they already have a bunch of young, talented players. They lack a dynamic point guard. How about this:

Rajon Rondo, Jermaine O'Neal and a couple young guys, Avery Bradley and J. Johnson maybe, (Pavlovic, if necessary to get the money right) to Utah for Al Jefferson and Devin Harris.

With Big Al on board, the Celts not only have more depth where they need it most - up front - but a player they can move forward with once the Big Three retire or assume supporting roles. Furthermore, he would probably actually want to be here unlike DH12 and the rest. Meanwhile, the Celts would still be under the cap in 2012 so they could use the full MLE on someone - Nick Young maybe... the full MLE would double his '11-'12 salary.

Harris is a downgrade from Rondo - goes without saying - but he's a decent defender and he can score. If I remember correctly, he's had some health problems but who hasn't?

Harris/Dooling

Allen/Moore

Pierce/Daniels/Pietrus?

Garnett/Bass/Wilcox

Jefferson/Steimsma

I'd call that an upgrade - overall - and with Jeff Green coming back next year, the Celts will have a playoff-caliber core of young guys. Not in-their-prime Big Three caliber, but definitely competitive, especially if they can sign a youngish veteran with the MLE and draft well with at least one of their two 2012 picks.

P.S. I know Al Jefferson is not a real center, but neither is Jermaine O'Neal. He and KG will match up with opposing teams as best they can.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I am obsessed with Al Jefferson

He’s a legitimate 20/10 guy, he’s still young and he has a good attitude. So what if he doesn’t play defense? Pierce and Allen never really did either until Garnett came along. There are definitely better big guys out there, but we don’t have a chance at getting them.

Trade for

Austin Daye the man can play …….. put a few bums together and make offer. But don’t sign Hugs or Pietres

Do not trade

JJ or Moore they won’t bring as much value as their worth plus they’re boilers. I think we need to hurry and trade with Utah. They just cleared 3 million in cap space ( if I remember correctly) and they need Allen bad hes only a ten million cap hit. If trade them Allen Bradley and bass for favors or kanter and then another player to make the salaries even

Rondo

Is not an upgrade over harris. In our eyes he is but I’m guessing Utah won’t see it that way Harris was widely respected around the league and when that trade happened I remember Espn saying the nets didn’t upgrade that much plus they gave up favors

Are you serious?

Harris should never be mentioned in the same company as Rondo, ever. Even without today’s monster performance nobody in the league thinks Harris is close or equal to Rondo. There are 3 guys who are widely considered better than Rondo at point guard: CP3, Deron Williams, and Derrick Rose. Most people would probably take Westbrook over Rondo too just for his scoring ability and upside. Either way Rondo is a top 5 point guard. Devin Harris is much much worse than all of those guys. 15.8 points on 41.3% shooting, 5.4 assists, 2.9 turnovers, .8 steals, those were his per game averages on the Jazz. You want to use his New Jersey numbers you aren’t gonna find a big improvement. And no he does not bring intangibles to make up for those numbers, if anything he slacked off after the season he made the allstar game and after injuries.

Like I said in our eyes but back at NJ

I remember him being held in pretty high regard. After today it seems rondo’s stepped up his game this year but last year it would have been a toss up as to who is better. Rondo is playing with three and maybe four hall of famers and another one last year. Rondo is awesome but we forget how good Harris was

Pull the trigger Harris and Jefferson would be ideal ...

Rondo won’t matter about 3 or 4 hall of famers if we don’t win…..
