What we need

The Celtics have done a good job executing set plays over the years because of players like KG and RA. However, we forget that the last championship team was great in transition- burying opponents with open court layups and three pointers. Most successful teams in the NBA have at least two or three guys who can create their own shot (Miami, NY, Dallas, etc.) Right now the Celtics have one guy (rondo) who can pressure the defense. Pierce can do it, but not against top notch defenders with regularity (like Kobe or Dirk). So everything has to be scripted to the point where the offense looks stagnant. This is especially true in the last 5 minutes of games... we walk it up the court, even if Rondo has pushed it successfully for three quarters. Just watch for yourself-- the script is all too familiar. After this year (or before) we need players who can create and transition (Monta Ellis, Mayo, Young, etc) who have the ability to rise up over people to score. Would love to have Ray be sixth man next year... Maybe even Garnett as seventh man pending friendly deals, but we need to utilize Rondo's skills better-- and quit micromanaging the offense.
