Ok fine
It's still the preseason as far as I'm concerned and once Pierce comes back, the Celts may be able to iron things out and make a deep playoff run. However, if it doesn't look like we're headed for Banner 18 by the trade deadline, here are a couple ideas I've come up with.
1. Ray Allen and second round picks to ORL for J.J. Redick and Ryan Anderson
(Would Orlando consider this? Would the Celtics?)
2. Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Jermaine O'Neal and a 1st round pick (or two...) to Utah for Devin Harris and Al Jefferson (I've posted this one before.)
This eats up all of the team's 2012 money but I'm not really clear on what they were planning to do with that money anyway. They'd have a decent-looking playoff team going forward with mostly reasonable contracts - a group of guys that Doc and Ainge can work with.
2012-2013
Harris/Dooling
Redick/Moore
Pierce/Green/Daniels
Anderson/Bass/Johnson
Jefferson/Steimsma
This is not a Championship lineup. But I think it's extremely unlikely that Ainge will be able to turn 2011-2012 personnel into anything better than an ok playoff team. I think the above configuration would be more competitive than Rondo/Pierce/Green/Bass, full-MLE (who?) and nobody else. Together, we can avoid the lottery. Draft picks rarely work out the way you want them to. It's a fact.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I like your Idea
But I really think we should be going after a super star. Rather than filling up a team with average players lets fill one hole at a time. Trade Jo Allen Garnett Bradley bass rondo what ever it takes to get one super star or star. The only players that should be safe are jj e55 and steamer because they will be under rated and will develop to be much better than what we can get. I think rondo needs to be traded now not because he isn’t good but because he is over rated and we can get more than he is actually worth. He’s very good but some people see him as top 3 and if we can get that kind of value we should trade him. JO should be traded if we can get anything but I doubt there are many championship teams that he could go to that he wouldn’t immediately retire (if the team thinks he will retire he has no value except his contract)

Players we should try to get
Curry
Love
Howard
Tyreke Evans
Kemba walker (I think he will be awesome)
My mind is going blank though so please suggest some other ones

And no one in the league is playing as bad
As the celtics we lost to a rebuilding hornets team who just lost their two best players and were missing their current best player. They had a backup pg sg and pf starting. And their 3 is Ariza who hasn’t been good for a while and they blew us out of the gym we have to do something

It works
The thunder got Westbrook durant and harden from top 5 picks and now they look pretty good. Charolette looks much improved this year Cleveland was good when they had Lebron who they used a top pick on. I know there are a lot of examples where it doesn’t work but in general most of the good players in a draft come from the top

Clarity
I don’t support sandbagging I’m just giving a reason why you would want to do it

Sandbag what?
I just can’t imagine Howard or Deron Williams signing with this team. Love, maybe McGee if he keeps playing great, Eric Gordon, Hibbert are other big names but they’re all restricted free agents and cornerstones of their respective franchises. We’re out of luck. Guys we could get: Nick Young if we overpay or O.J. Mayo.
So making my trades would take us out of the Nick Young/O.J. Mayo sweepstakes. Oh well.
When you have a team of 7 starter-caliber guys all of whom (with the exception of Pierce) are signed to reasonable contracts, you can make additional moves in the future – package two of them for an All-Star, etc. This is different than what Ainge originally tried to do here which was to remain competitive while building through the draft because (excepting Pierce), the teams weren’t competitive: Blount, Lafrentz, Ricky Davis, nearing-the-end-of-the-line Gary Payton. Pierce with Redick (who really is getting better), Jeff Green and Al Jefferson is no joke. They’re not gonna beat Miami or Oklahoma City, but they could be a decent 4th seed.
It’s true that LeBron James came from the top of the NBA Draft. But so did Michael Olowokandi, and there have been more Olowokandis than Lebrons. Ainge has made good draft picks and bad ones. How sure is anybody that if we had a lottery pick we’d choose the right guy?
And what do we have to do to get to the top of the draft? Lose lose lose. Just because Doc signed a 5 year deal does not mean he actually has to serve it out. Contracts are made to be broken.
P.S. This is only if we’re still awful by midseason. I prefaced the whole thing with “It’s still the preseason as far as I’m concerned and once Pierce comes back, the Celts may be able to iron things out and make a deep playoff run.”

no
Isn’t Reddick terrible? Jefferson is hurt a lot.
Reddick was terrible
He is really getting better. He used to be the worst but he has turned into a quality 2 guard. Not a top ten or all star type guy but a guy Chicago thought was the missing link to a championship

Medium Al
Since he went on his Subway diet, Jefferson has been more dependable. I believe he played all 82 last year.

Reddick
I know Reddick can shoot, but he has a bad rep for playing D. I would rather give Moore a chance.
Redick does not play defense
I believe that’s correct but he hustles and he’s smart which means Doc can do something with him. “My” 2012-2013 roster should be one of the worst defensive teams of all time but (1) they’d be better on the glass than our current group, (2) Doc Rivers is the coach and (3) Paul Pierce is the captain. Anyway, this is just an idea. If you guys don’t want Anderson and Redick, trade Ray for someone else. I just really doubt that anybody of any value is coming to Boston of their own free will (no idea why, btw). Gotta be a trade.
rough
I agree. It’s not Boston 2008. Players don’t seem to be flocking to wear green anymore. I’m hoping we continue to get some good young talent. I’m not huge on Dwight Howard next year. It would be awesome. I’m just very doubtful it will happen. I would rather have 2-3 strong players with the Big 3, Rondo, and Green. It would be nice to see KG and Ray one more year at least coming off the bench even.
Dwight Howard
Will not be in Boston except for away games next year give that pipe dream up. As for the lotto thing yeah we might not pick the right guy but does that mean we give up drafting? We still have to try. If I was DA id flip ray Allen today. He has so much value it’s insane we could get a first round pick and a player for him something like ray allen to Cleveland Indiana Milwaukee Minnesota Knicks Portland or Utah with Indiana Knicks and Utah being the teams who would rent him for a championship run. Indiana we could try for Roy hibbert Knicks Don’t really have anything for us so it would need to be picks or a three team trade and Utah has a lot of young big men so whoever they don’t want. Jefferson seems like the odd man out with kanter favors milsap. I’d love to get kanter or favors but we would have to give up more
