The way i see it, we have two directions to go:
1. Get a big man / post player that you can run an offense through.
2. Get some wing creators and play more in transition.
With 1, i don't think you can have Rondo, since he might be the chip you deal to get the impact big man. Plus, you have to surround the post player with shooters (Dallas)- which Rondo is not. It is not difficult to find a point guard that can shoot, so you could add a few pieces to our core and make some noise.
With 2, you need to keep Rondo, and surround him with guys like Monta Ellis, Westbrook (2 guard), Gordon, (or green if he comes back) who can create their own shots. Our center then can be a combination of a shooter / defensive rebounder (Bulls- Pistons of old).
Right now we seem a bit mismatched-- with varying strengths that don't alaways fit (with some blame on Doc for micromanaging the offense). We can do OK this year, but we have to commit to a style and build the team around either strategy.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.
