Herald Paul Pierce provides boost

Jermaine O'Neal, in a sense, made his own debut. After scoring eight points, total, in his first three games, the Celtics center broke out last night with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting and seven rebounds.

Brandon Bass produced another gem off the bench with 17 points, matching Ray Allen's night.

Overall the Celtics shot 52.2 percent and, with solid defense against their winless opponent, held Detroit to 43 percent.

Something I Think I Noticed In Piston Game

It seems that Doc has been trying to get KG to play more in or near the post and to take more shots. I’m not sure what has been said about the way Doc wants JO to play.

Both players didn’t look good in the first three games, but in the Detroit game they seemed to play the way they used to play, KG staying further away from the basket on offense and JO doing the same, taking more outside shots than trying to score underneath. They seemed to both play better doing their own thing. It also looks like KG, at least, doesn’t have the pop in his legs and alot of his close to the basket shots are getting blocked or he’s being tightly defended. He just looks more comfortable and he is usually unguarded when he shoots from outside.

Just wondering what others think about this observation.
