Buy Out Options
As we head into the buy out season, it's time to learn the faces we could see added to the Celtics.
Troy Murphy: Murphy is the name that everybody has been hearing the most about lately. Troy is a 6'11" power forward who has the ability to shoot the three. He has been averaging about 3.5 PPG and 4 RPG in 16 minutes per game while playing for the New Jersey Nets. After trading Perk, Semih and Luke away, the need for a big man is huge right now. He may not be the biggest rebounder in the league, but during his career, he has averaged 8.5 rebounds per game. He is also a big body that can guard power forwards and would give added depth on the front line.
Leon Powe: If healthy, Leon can absolutely play. But, that is a very big IF. Knee injuries have been hurting him for the past couple years, although he said recently that his knees are fine. In a troubling 14 games played this year, he has scored about 5 PPG and pulled down around 2.7 RPG. He is a small guy, 6'8", but has the heart of a lion (or Garnett) as we saw when he was playing for the Celtics. Even though he would help with chemistry, I don't think we need another undersized, injury-prone power forward. But you NEVER know.
Jason Kapono: Playing in only 18 games this year, Kapono is a great shooter when given the chance. He has only shot 25% from 3 this year, but he had little open looks. If he went to the Celtics, those open looks would surely help him out. He could provide much wing depth to the team. And guess who else wants him.... Lakers and Thunder.
Dan Gadzuric: Dan is one of those players no one knows about...until now. He is a 8 year pro averaging about 3 point and 3 rebounds per game. He would be a cheap option to help on the defensive end. He could certainly be an option for the thin frontline.
Joel Przybilla: This is one guy who I have heard nothing about, yet I think he would be a great pickup for the team. He is 7'1" and averages about 4 rebounds per game so far this year. Not much news on him, but he would fill the void at center at Shaq and/or Jermaine could not come back.
Sheeeeed: How about we think that over for a second???..... NO!
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

The duo of
Murphy and Powe would be my choice. Kapano I don’t know he’s a great shooter, but I want to see what other wings come up from the buyout market. If we could sign all three then there we go. That’s if we use all three open roster spots. Which we should due to this teams injury issues.
Not Kapono
I’m ok with Murphy, but not on Kapono. We need Kapono’s shooting, but not his defense (or lack of it). Isn’t there any other swingman option who can actually play some defense? And if DA ever thinks of filling up the 3rd available slot, I suggest a veteran PG. As an insurance in case Delonte gets hurt again. Entrusting back-up PG duties to a rookie come playoff time is not a good idea. Heck, the C’s don’t even have to look outside. They can just activate Tyronne Lue and make him an assistant coach/player.
