"Boston Celtics reserve Glen Davis will reportedly return to action on Sunday evening when the Boston Celtics face the Milwaukee Bucks at TD Garden, according to Celtics head coach Doc Rivers."

Rivers does hedge his bets by saying "I do think he'll play Sunday, we just don't know for sure."

I’ll believe it when I see it.

C’mon we need our guys back.
1) Shaq – comming only when 100%
2) Delonte – ??
3) Von Wafer – ??

What’s up with Wafer and Delonte?

by Effect on Mar 12, 2011 12:43 PM EST reply actions

This year it seems we've been compiling a lot of different "records without."

Record without Perkins. Record without Shaq. Record without KG. Record without Rondo. Record without Daniels.

I think someone was going to tally up records without Jermaine and Delonte, but gave it up.

Tallying O'Neal and West?

Just mark “season”.

That should take care of it.

by Finkelskyhook on Mar 12, 2011 3:10 PM EST up reply actions

West

is what 28? My God, going to miss his 7th straight game with a “mild” ankle sprain, lol!

I have no complaints with BBD, no one else should either, quite honestly!

this injury was the first time he missed games

so the record since he got hurt lol (im not sure myself atm )

by WikedCeltsFan7 on Mar 12, 2011 8:33 PM EST up reply actions

yeah major props to him tho

KG said babys been playin thru injuries all season.

he is def a true celtic in my eyes with everything he has done

by WikedCeltsFan7 on Mar 12, 2011 9:35 PM EST up reply actions

Let's hope...

Baby was a lot more important to this team than I gave him credit. I do think a big problem the last two games are the bigs inability to give hard fouls due to the lack of bench support. Always been a fan of Baby. Any guy who gets a concussion, half- passes out then tries to make it back to half court is a true Celtic in my book. Go green!

by CelticsFan616 on Mar 12, 2011 3:12 PM EST reply actions

Agreed

Made a similar point on the game thread last night. He gets in there, carves out space in the middle, takes charges and all kinds of good stuff. Not so much as a spot up shooter but the rest is all good.

Baby cannot come back soon enough....

Without BBD & Shaq, the Celics are a “finesse” team…and they cannot win that way!

by Title 18 on Mar 12, 2011 3:15 PM EST reply actions

BBD

is probably the biggest reason that we’ve lost the last two games. I’ll tell you this; Murphy is sucking it UP.

"The celtics were a way of life. A group of people so diverse you cannot imagine; working together, day in and day out for a common goal. What was necessary was ten players, two baskets, thirteen thousand people and one basketball. We would decide what was done with that one basketball." ~ Bill Russell

by Eucharist on Mar 12, 2011 3:18 PM EST reply actions

Okay, look at your statement and ask yourself

Why isn’t he EARNING more minutes, epecially with all of the injuries we’ve had? How presumptuous of you to assert that we’ve turned him into a “whipping boy.” Could it be that there is a reason why he is not recieving more playing time? Gee, I could really be onto something…
Players that play well not only in game, but in practice as well tend to recieve more playing time.
Perhaps your greater judgement has superseded the logic here…

Agreed, but

Murphy looks straight up LOST out there. I know that there’s a lot to learn, but with the way that Krstic has fit in so quickly (at least on the offensive side of the ball), doesn’t it raise some questions as to the level of Murphy’s work ethic? Why is he SO far behind all of the other new recruits? Maybe because he hasn’t played much in the last year? Who knows, but seriously, he’s a professional, which means staying in shape and keeping up with the drills even when you’re not being played or in a teams rotation. Murphy could be doing so much better right now, but clearly he is not. He simply doesn’t seem to have a clue what he’s doing right now, and that needs to change, especially when the door has been opened with BBD’s time out, he has the opportunity to garner more respect from the coaches and players by giving it 110%. The hustle is non-existant.

I'm scratching my head a might too. But time will tell with Murphy.

I just remember having seen him play well on several occasions while wearing another uniform. So I’m doubting he has lost or forgotten it all.

by no kidding on Mar 12, 2011 4:04 PM EST up reply actions

Murphy/Kristic

Murphy has been hurt and has played very little this season. He’s not in game shape. As to his work ethic, I really don’t know about it, but he doesn’t look overweight to me. I think he has been putting in the work to stay fit. I would equate his situation with that of PJ Brown in 2008. He didn’t do much for the team, but he did make huge contributions in 1or 2 playoff games. If Murph does that he will have been successful. All he needs to do is get a key rebound or hit one or two key 3’s in the playoffs and he’s been a worthwhile addition. Also, he’s here for insurance, not for prime time.

As to Kristic, he’s been playing all season and is in game shape. His problem is that he’s coming to a completely different system and is now playing more under the basket; whereas, with OKC he was kept outside. His main problem is learning the defensive rotations.

Right now both players, as well as all the new additions are doing alot of thinking and not much instinctively. Also, the guys who have been here have to do the same thing. Let’s give this some time. These moves had to be made because the previous bench was not getting it done.

Chris Johnson played better than Murphy

…and Doc threw him in there with zero NBA experience or practice time.

Dropkick

is washed up IMO! Maybe he should join the Dropkicks for his afterlife from the NBA!

JO is better than Murphy and they have played the same amount of time with this team.

Its all about 18

by celticsox937 on Mar 12, 2011 7:01 PM EST up reply actions

Ya that is a huge question regarding this team. Do you think Krstic will produce in the playoffs?

Its all about 18

by celticsox937 on Mar 12, 2011 10:06 PM EST up reply actions

I'm betting he is!

Even if or when we get all the bigs healthy, Krstic is still the best offensive big we have and the most “versatile” offensively….. and he is way younger so he can play more minutes and heal faster ;)

by japsuki on Mar 12, 2011 10:19 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed, I say come playoff time leave Murphy off the active 12 man roster along with Bradley and Pavlovic

Its all about 18

Hope Baby is not coming back too soon

And potentially injuring himself further.

by mmbaby on Mar 12, 2011 5:01 PM EST reply actions

Baby is warrior. He was playing injured since The Game That Shall Not Be Named all the way to this season. Don’t underestimate Baby.

by Mub33b on Mar 12, 2011 5:25 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I'm not underestimating Baby. I love Baby.

I simply said I don’t want him coming back too soon, warrior or not, and re-injuring himself.

In other news...

CHI vs UTA now and it looks like the bulls will run away with this one… This is probably the first time i will ever root for the jazz in any game regular or post season.

D.S.T. when does it start?

…So i can adjust my alarm clock for the game against MIL… Oh yeah, I’m not from the US

by japsuki on Mar 12, 2011 9:06 PM EST reply actions

I googled it a while ago (i’m also not from the US, so i gotta check it), it says DST starts on march 13.

by misel on Mar 12, 2011 10:07 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Thanks! And yes... "too-lazy-to-even-google-it mode" :P

I guess it applies to the game against MIL already…

I hope they check Jennings for that game! If Bogut plays for MIL, he’ll be another threat. These pesky teams are more nerve wracking to play against hehe! Doc called out the C’s on their lack of physicality against PHI so i’m expecting more than usual fouls on this game ;) No technical fouls though i hope…

by japsuki on Mar 12, 2011 10:17 PM EST up reply actions

If BBD doesn't play we wont win.

almost half of our roster is new and don’t know the system. I don’t think we can turn the “switch on” during play off time, this is totally a different team from last year.

by greenSD on Mar 12, 2011 10:18 PM EST reply actions

finally

very underrated bench player and he has a true heart… great celtic

by thefastbreak on Mar 13, 2011 12:04 AM EST reply actions

doc says it all day....size--as in cheeseburgers and pizza-- and speed

he changes things out there, he know where’s to be, and he’s a scoring threat. sometimes he’s very underwelming, but you see his value when he aint around.

malcontents....the lot of you

by dasandruler on Mar 13, 2011 3:26 AM EST reply actions

what do you mean we can't flip the switch?

we don’t need to flip anything at the moment we just need players to gradually come back and give our starters more rest so they don’t play games to 80 percent of their ability because of fatigue from the season , once shaq and BBD come back with jermaine playing 5-10 minutes a game and our second unit is delonte arroyo green kristic and bbd we’ll be fine

by KillaCs on Mar 13, 2011 8:46 AM EDT reply actions

Keep dreaming with the O'neals.

Probably Shaq will play few minutes during playloffs but be ready for another injury.

by greenSD on Mar 13, 2011 10:11 AM EDT reply actions

mvp la certe needs to certify the baby bfore anything happens. the mystery man to me is j, oneal. havent heard anything about him in a while, after the i.m so fine after the operation and i’ll be back statements.
