I WANT MY CELTICS BACK!

Something’s changed with this team. Yes, something’s changed. I don’t know when it changed or how, but I’ve been feeling it for a while now, and I’ve been feeling it with my gut. Faces. Yes, the faces…they’ve changed. They’ve been changing for the past four years really, and the team? The team remained. Players came and went, and we loved them, we loved them all. Some made this team better, some, perhaps slightly worse, but the new era Celtics stayed who they were--the Celtics. And let me tell you, Celtics play Celtic basketball, always…win or lose, slump or no slump, bored or not. Yes, that 25/25 stretch last season was Celtic basketball, at its ugliest but it sure was Celtic, the "new big three" Celtic. The type that too often made bad teams look good, but when a lot was on the line, the "real stuff" came out, and green had dominated. We fans took the loses hard. Yes, we really did. But the potential of the team was there, always, we felt it.

And now…now something happened. Something changed, and as I said, I don’t know when or why or what. All I know, is that for the past few months I’ve been watching my team, and my team felt alien, win or lose. The stats won’t show it or explain it, so don’t look there, nor try to find the answers with the media. The word is that there is no change. Doc says the same things he’s always said, only this time his face somehow tells different. The current loses are no mental slump, and if last season C’s were giving games away, these loses feel for real. They really do, do they not? And don’t blame those on Rondo. Please. If only everything was that simple. Rondo’s own slump here is the consequence not the cause. He’s just been playing like he would on any other team but the Celtics. And the Celtics themselves, they've been playing like…like the Miami heat? Like the OKC Thunder? I don’t know. They just haven’t played like the Boston Celtics, and Rondo is confused out there. He’s been in slumps before, heck he’s even been out for quite some games, yet Boston remained Boston, but not now. Not today.

Tell me, when was the last time you watched Celtic basketball? Be truthful…Hey, our captain dunks a lot lately, and Ray Allen…well Ray Allen is Ray Allen, he makes threes. Individually, they’re fun to watch. No? But are the games? I’m talking about the wins here. Where, where in the world is the spectacular and confusing ball sharing? Where is the D? Not the "Bucks game" D, the type of D that makes the top teams panic? I hardly know these Celtics anymore…in their lows or highs. And whose fault is it I don’t know either. What I know is that every fan feels this change. Some feel the danger of it too. They evaluate this danger in terms of wins and loses. Well, to be honest, I don’t care anymore. About the wins and loses that is. I just want my Celtics back...
