No O'Neals, no 18?? Trades and moves a mistake???
So let me start this by saying the last few games, although all these players are new, have been very concerning to me and should be to our beloved C's. I was listening to ESPN radio the other day and Tim Legler was on talking about the celtics and bulls and who is going to come out of the East. I will say Legs really knows his stuff and he was one of the only guys at ESPN that picked us to win in 2008 against the Lakers. He brought up a very valid and concerning point, that all of our new additions, from Jeff to Troy, are all FINESSE players. They are anti big baby, anti Perk, anti Leon Powe (who killed us last night), anti PJ Brown and anti Posey. Danny in one day threw away the very thing that made us who we were. Celtics teams that have won it all whether it was in the 60's or 2008 have always been hard working, tough, blue collar type players and he threw that away in Perk and by picking up Troy Murphy as opposed to Leon Powe. Imagine last night if we had Perk and Leon back?? We got destroyed in the paint last night and I think they would have never let that happen. I'm sorry but we're in trouble.
Which leads me to think that unless we get BOTH O'Neals back playing and healthy that Banner 18 is a lot further away than we all think.
I hope I'm wrong cause I love this team just as much as anyone else in here, and I believe in our core group of Paul, Kevin, Ray, Rondo, and baby to get it done this year. They just could use a little more help right??
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I wanted Leon
But our season is not going to be determined by the absence of Leon Powe.
And yes, we need at least one O’Neal. But we would have needed at least one of them even if we had kept Perk, who clearly was about as much of a health risk as JO and Shaq.
The trade was a good trade, for this year. You can say the bigs are important and all, and you’re not wrong, but if PP went down, then the season was really over. Jeff Green is a huge upgrade over Quis, and a nearly infinite upgrade over Von Wafer. We said all year that if healthy, this team could beat anyone. And it’s true. But it was quite clear since February, if not before, that this team was never going to be healthy. So the goal was to find a team that a) was healthy, or b) if not healthy, could still win. Did we achieve that? Only time will tell. But please stop living in this pre-trade idealized world where Perk was the 2009 version, and that PP could play 45 minutes a game and have no ill effects. That team didn’t exist, so that team wasn’t broken up by this trade.

Trade was necessary
and it did provide the needed depth; BUT the risk was that the O’Neals would return and contribute, so therein lies the rub. It does really depend on the ONeals, mostly Shaq to come in and helpo.
I understand the perk trade, i really do, especially for green who has been great at times. But Troy Murphy looks like a mistake, much rather have Jermaine Oneal healthy than him.
Hopeful Playoff Rotation for me:
PG Rondo/West
SG Ray/ West/Green
SF Paul/ Green
PF KG/Baby
C Shaq/Jermaine/Kristic
Anything more than a 10 man rotation in the playoffs throws the whole team rhythm off, which is why I say sorry to Carlos, Sasha, Troy
I don't think the choice was
Signing Troy Murphy or having Jermaine O’Neal healthy. With KG, Big Baby, and Green on the roster, I think Ainge went for the best available big who can play center. Leon Powe cannot play center.
we'll be fine
sounds like BOTH Shaq and Jermaine will be back by April 1.
Clearly our weakness now is inside, on offense and defense.
Everything will improve with 2 TOUGH centers returning to the rotation.
I’ll take the #2 seed and a better record than the Lakers.
Maybe this weekend for Shaq ?
he has to get some real game experience before playoffs; and JO by april 1 ; these two should make up for Perk -(this had to have been DA thinking with the trade)
I also would not totally give up on Troy, he could be needed depending on team we are facing.-at least Miami didnt get him.
You mean
somebody stole his recliner? I knew the guy would miss his share of games, but the absurdity level has kicked in for me.

This is off topic but does anyone know if wafer is coming back anytime soon? He sort of just disappeared off the face of the planet after his injury.
Its all about 18
C's gone SOFT!
Danny opted to go for offense than defense that made this ‘new’ team soft and will not earn banner 18th!
Hit on the head!
Yeah you;re damn right hit it on the head!
