I never believed Shaq was "injured"
...And I don't believe anything they're saying now. Why? Because no one, as in... NO ONE.... has ever seen or reported seeing Shaq either GET injured, or BE injured. So... it's all team manure, so far as I'm concerned, till proven otherwise.
The only thing that really matters is whether or not he'll be there for the playoffs. I think he probably will, mostly because of the likely explanation for all this..... which is that one day Shaq said:
"Guys, I'm old. I'm aching in a 100 places. I got my role. I know what to do out there. I'm just gonna take the rest of the season off, so I can be at my best for the playoffs. And I promise, I'll play till I drop then. Deal?"
And who's gonna argue with that guy, eh?
Anyway, whatever they say, or not... none of it is "news" to me anymore. Come playoff time, Shaq.... suit up or don't. If you do, I think we could see great things. If you don't, well... you were just a waste of our time, weren't you?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Don't worry...
He will be ready come playoff time…reminds me of how the C’s were last year when everyone doubted their ability to make it to the playoffs based on the way they were playing during the regular season. This is a on plan by Doc I agree with. Really we don’t really need the BIG fella anyways right now.
I agree, I don’t think shaq is injured. old yes, injured no. the C’s will play him very, very sparingly so he’s not cold and come playoff time he will miraculously be ready.
in my opinion, Krstic will start and the the O’neals and Murphy (bust) are just 18 fouls to give against Bynum.
Also Jeff Green is home where he belongs and will be a huge asset to the Celtics for years to come

shaq wants to play
shaq knows he’s still got it as evidenced in the beginning of the season when he was making KG’s life easy. doc was ready to ride that pony…then pony broke down. when shaq is hurt, he’s not in on the subway, posing statue, or conducting orchestra. he’s working and healing. I love shaq and his antics….which is why I think he’s not injured, but hurt.
malcontents....the lot of you
Its becoming increasingly evident that Shaq is indeed being preserved on ice till the real war begins...
Otherwise, Perk would not have been traded…There really is no need for 3 Centers come playoff time… I also think JO will be back to backup Shaq and even KG. Our playoff roster is set and as long as we stay afloat and still remain atop the East, there really is no reason for doc to rush Shaq.
I even got this feeling Shaq is doing everything short of having Yoga or what to even atleast drop weight and turn back father time
"No I’m not KG. Not at all, but I’m Big Baby Glen Davis from LSU, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I’m not the Big Ticket. I’m the Ticket Stub. Don’t count the Ticket Stub out. You might need the ticket to get in the game, but you leave with the ticket stub, because you’ll never forget this game."
3 centers
actually, if we make it to the finals, and face the Lakers, that’s when having 3 Centers would be most advantageous.
The more 7 footers you have, with fouls to give, the better. Spreading minutes so that all your bigs are playing fresh and fast is critical against that team.
Otherwise, you are correct. You usually only need two, though it would be preferable if we can not force BBD to have to play too much at the C and can keep him mostly spelling KG.

and having a couple bigs who can shoot past 10 feet
will help draw the other teams bigs out, leaving a lane to drive and an open chance at rebounds.

We have four 7 footers.
Perkins was an undersized unathletic center. If both O’Neals are healthy we came up big in the trade.
When everyone is healthy...
The C’s will win it all mark my words…We will be so deep in the big position other teams will not have enough backups for KG, O’neal #1, O’neal#2, Kristic, Murphy…then never mind our offensive weapons—→PP, RA, JG, DW, VW, BBD, RONDO…Banner 18 is a shoe in…actually from an opposite team’s perspective it is really unfair. Glad I’m not rooting for the other team!

Pain is usually a sign of an injury and/or physical malady
so “injured”, “hurt”, “physically damaged”, whatever; it all means the same thing.
Nobody “saw” KG get injured in ’09, he just landed and limped (hopped?). Same with Glen Davis a couple games ago.
I suppose that you questioned Walton’s effort/heart/truthiness in ‘87 as well. Or were the Celtic’s brass in the spin zone then as well? Walton never did come back that post season. I hope history doesn’t repeat itself with Shaq.
I think the Celtics played Shaq too much earlier in the season and are now paying the price. They learned from that and now refuse to make the same mistake again. Now it is “better safe than sorry” and they will wait until it is absolutely necessary before putting him on the court again.
As dasandruler said, he isn’t on the Shaq Promotion Tour anymore, he is working to get back. I saw a report that he looks like he has lost weight as of late as well.
Shaq's weight
Seems like I heard somewhere during last night’s game that he had lost 25 lbs. That’s a lot of weight even for someone as big as Shaq. He must be working out all the time to do that without playing.
yeah, i've heard that from multiple sources
sometimes it is just 15 lbs, usually they say 20 and some have said 25.
Whatever, it points to him working hard to stay in shape, so that’s a good thing.
It helps that Shaq is not a spot up jump shooter. His style of play is least likely to be ‘rusty’ from not playing in-games. The biggest trouble with timing will be receiving Rondo’s hot-potato passes.

Not sure I'd call Shaq a 'waste of our time'
even if he can’t come back for the playoffs.
He did, clearly, help us win a lot of games in the first half and if we hold on to HCA then he’ll have been more than worth the Vet Minimum contract we are paying him.

Put it this way
If at the beginning of the season, you’d have asked any Celtic or fan why we want Shaq in Boston, would the answer have been “To get us HCA in the playoffs”? More to the point, if the team fails to win the ring this year in part because Shaq never plays again, would the knowledge that he helped us get HCA assuage ANY of the pain?
If the worst happens, I’ll put some Dylan on and rue the day….
I am sayin’ you treated me unkind
You could have done better and I do mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don’t think twice, it’s all right
