After the Celtics run in the playoffs last year I thought that many would come to my belief that we make too much about HCA in a seven game series. All you have to do is change the dynamic and you can make a case for the teams with HC being under greater pressure than the opponent. Here is my reasoning; the teams with so-called HCA has one thing, and one thing alone - they get to open before the home crowd with two games. In a league with parity it is tremendously difficult to beat an opponent back to back. Therefore, the team with so-called HCA opens with immense pressure to keep that HCA they earned during the season. If they dont, then HCA switches to the opponent. in an instant.
The question then becomes, do you want to battle over a month or two of games to get HCA, or do you want to get that HCA over the first two games of every series you play?
If HCA is that important to you, all you have to do is play lights out the first two games, get one, and protect your homecourt.
The Cs have proven that can be done, and frankly after last season I believed that would be a new model.
