"I feel that our bench is way stronger than theirs, we’re way deeper than [Miami's]," sixth man Glen Davis said. "We just got to make sure we use our depth."

The bench has been much maligned
since the TRADE. Not sure it is that bad, but maybe Glen can lead a charge by West, Green, Krstic et al against MIA, assuming they take care of business against PHI tonight
I think...
Both coaches will give their benches chances but if they don’t deliver rotations will be shorter then a 2 year olds attention span.
Nice semantics there, Baby
Let’s try it again: “We just have to produce more as a bench.”
There, much better.
Someone needs to tell Baby to stop talking!
Results on the court, not words Glenn!

well, our bench wasn't better than the awful knicks bench, so why does he think it's better than the heat's bench?
suck it up and play hard and smart Glen
Davis how about you go play
“Barkley shut up and Jam!” on Sega and do the same?
This guy is a moron and he better start playing like the 6th guy off our bench. Getting real sick of him lately.
Oh wait
I forgot you can’t dunk. And how’d you do defending Amare when his back wasn’t done? Yeah thought so…

Please don't question my fanhood
just because one of our players is running at the mouth and not backing it up. I admit calling him a moron was a bit much but I just think he should show it on the court instead.
Davis needs to get out of this fog he has been in for the past couple of weeks.

Shut up BBD SHUT UP!
Stop talking because that gives them ammunition. Yes we and everyone who’s in denial knows Bostons bench is better, but don’t go to the media and say it. Keep it to yourself and show your depth on the floor. Make them know by playing them not talking. My goodness did he not learn from Amare and him punking him after his words about his defense on him.
I agree, we don't need to provide bulletin board material.

There's one good thing about Davis's talking to the media.
… it tends to keep the spotlight off the rest of the bench. That may help Green, West, and Krstic. With Davis drawing most of the media attention for the bench, the other guys may benefit from feeling less mental pressure.
Glen Davis needs to shut the hell up.
Because the way he has been playing, our bench has been awful.
Here's another possible good thing about Davis commenting to the media.
Davis is telling the media the Celtic bench will outplay the Miami bench. Of course, his remarks will likely come to the attention of the Miami players. When that happens, it may well cause the Heat’s bench players to individually try to raise their personal play. As a result, they may end up trying to play “outside of themselves,” and accordingly, they may unintentinally undermine their own teammates.
You never know what damage may result from players trying to show up an opposing loudmouth.
you gotta make sure you use your depth?
Well Glen, that isn’t up to anybody but you.
THE CAVS SHALL RISE AGAIN...
BEAT THE HEAT.
wow wheres the love for baby on here?
we wouldnt have 56 games if we didnt have big baby.
even though he and the bench struggled in the knicks series, we still found ways to win. if any of you actually watched game 4, you wouldve seen that the bench actually played pretty good. (before the 4th quarter collapse, but it was all turnovers). now with a week off. theres no doubt in my mind that the bench will show up in the heat series.
cannot wait for big baby to shut up all the doubters….again
Count me as a doubter who just wants him to shut up...again.
I really hope Danny comes up with a good sign and trade for him.
I'm happy he helped this team to 56 wins, but he needs to stop talking to the media about other teams saying how they're inferior to them
Did he not learn from last year when the captain went on twitter and trash talked both Orlando and the Lakers. Right after he said what he said the next time they met both teams won. Just play and don’t say anything keep your opinions like that to yourself because it gives the other team ammunition and fire to beat them.
OK, let's see...
Before the Knicks series, he said guarding Amare is really easy, and followed that by letting Amare drop 28/11 on him in Game 1. Now decide for yourself how credible his bold statement is, although I don’t necessarily disagree.
that statement was a lot more bold
and by bold I mean ridiculous and totally untrue.

Baby's right
Our bench might be crappy right now, but look at Miami’s bench. I can’t remember any bench player from Miami that can have a significant impact.
wow
there’s really no reason to lash out against BBD.
A) he brought it on Sunday (14 pts on 6/8 from the field and 7 boards)
B) why not just root for the guy? isn’t that more fun than hating our own players?
C) sometimes making a statement like this forces you to back it up, lets hope he does

well
a) he brought it 1 out of the 4 games. big deal. he needs to bring it every game. For better or worse, he’s the first “big” man off the bench.
b) everyone’s rooting for him. but you can root for someone and hate them at the same time. Personally, I don’t hate him. I do want him to make his statements on the court, not in front of a microphone. It’ll mean a lot more that way.
c) um, no. he made dumb statement like this about Amare before playing the Knicks and he didn’t come close to backing it up. saying dumb things doesn’t force anyone to back up their mouth.
he's been struggling yes
all the more reason to root for him in my opinion…but hey, we are all entitled to our opinion. I am a transplant living in SF these days, so maybe I just find it difficult to get back into the mass/ri mentality of rooting for my team while hating on them at the same time. I agree, though, its definitely possible :)
I’ll tell ya one thing. I don’t miss the Projo Sports section thats for sure….Bill Reynold’s tearing apart my teams = not fun

I am appalled at the things I’m reading here. It’s just astounding how fans here trash talk Baby, who has been our best man off the bench for the whole season.
This statement by him is just fine. There’s just nothing wrong with saying what he did. It’s quite common for players to smack talk about the other teams in sports. Baby can’t make a move here without someone finding something wrong with it. Give the young man a break and quit whining all the time about totally insignificant things.
Somebody keep Baby away from the microphones
and buffet table.

BBD averaged 29.5 minutes over the course of the season, making him the 5th most active player on the team.

Actually, No
BBD is still averaging the 5th most minutes in this playoffs, even with those guys.
In fact, hes logging more minutes than JO (BBD: 24.8 to J.O: 23.0)
Technically he is currently our 5th man until Shaq comes back.

Well we better agree to disagree
Well I am not going to go deep in this
Because I see you like the kid and I like him too as a 9th man
But
In my book 6th man is the 6th best player of the team
Hes positionally needed and injuries still makes Doc playing him over
others that are not here
Not like Delonte will play Center :/
But believe me, I will accept whe he starts giving something… Moreso
I am waiting and hoping for that
The game 4 version is a good example
Not the last 10 games of season and first 3 games of playoff version
True - fair points
I do like BBD, because of his heart and his play throughout last year’s playoff run.
I agree he is not the 6th best player on the team. I was simply arguing that he is playing 6th man for the C’s right now – not sure he should be though.
Also, the 6th man doesn’t necessarily have to be the 6th best player…in fact most of the time that probably isn’t the case. Odom for example, is the 3rd best player in LA. JR Smith is better than 6th on his team, etc… Usually the 6th man is someone who can give the team an offensive spark or do something else to energize the team coming off the bench. In our case, BBD is probably the 7th best player on the team (Rondo, Ray, KG, Pierce, J-O, Jeff Green are all superior talents — Delonte is probably too beat up this year to qualify). If Shaq comes back, I guess that would make BBD our 8th best player.
On the Celtics, the logical candidate for our 6th man IMO should be Jeff Green. Like Odom did, he is taking time to learn to adjust to this role. He is also not getting any minutes (averaging only 16 in the playoffs), so he has no time to get into rhythm or build confidence. Hopefully that changes against Miami.

Davis, Murphy, Green, Arroyo, West, Wafer, O'neal anyone, Pavlovic and the bald guy!!
On paper this is one of the best bench off all time…
On the court is like Davis, blank, blank, blank, West, Hurt, blank, blank.
I hope they improve soon we need them..
Please shut up. Don’t given them bulletin board material. Speak through your efforts on the court.

The Cs have a better bench, but the Miami bench plays with guys who need to be doubled; thus, they become better and shoot the 3. The Celtics Bench has plays they do for themselves, Miami goes with the Big 3 who kick it out to the Miami bench. Though the Cs have Rondo to kick it out, too.

I'll agree with you, Baby
As soon as you can prove to me that the Game 4 version of you is going to show up, not games 1-3.

Yeah Baby! You tell them.
No point in being afraid of your enemy before the battle. We need the bench to grow some balls and get an attitude. I hope this catches on with the other guys in the bench.

We just got to make sure we use our depth
Why would he say that? What a weird way to phrase that thought. Comes across like he wants more playing time, even if that’s not what he meant. Let Doc worry about how best to use the depth Baby, just be ready when you’re called upon.
or he could just be saying we (the bench needs to step it up)
not a well phrased sentence either way….he is getting the 5th most minutes on the team in the playoffs, so I don’t think that’s what he is complaining about. It seems like most people would rather that he let his play do the talking, and I can’t argue with that. If Baby can play within the offense, not force jumpers and give us what he gave us during last year’s run, I will be very very happy.

Hear, hear!!! I'm actually a bit nervous...but in a very good way! ;)
I guess we have a few more days to squeeze the last few drops of the sweep hangover and the "will-shaq-play-vs.-MIA’ talk :P
Let’s do this!!!!
Miami is good, but not that good...
*Miami has no real big man, and their bench is horrible.
*The Celtics have a bench, but they need to step up.
*The Heat has no real PG, the Celtics do.
*Shaq will be a big factor in this series if he plays, and that’s a big if?
*Wade has struggled against the Celtics in recent years.
*James Jones, Mike Miller, Mario Chalmers and Bibby can’t defend.
*Celtics will need to do better job rebounding.
*Letting guys Joel Anthony, Howard, Ilguaskas out rebound Celtics will be embrassing. That’s can’t happen.
*Celtics have to guard the 3 point line and the paint.

Sorry for the off topic but...
Wow! The Spurs’ season held on by literally 1-inch with that Manu stepping on the 3pt line call! Looks like another “1” bites the dust ;) What a game!
I agree with Davis, but
I would like a little more action and a lot less talk from him. My father- in- law’s favorite saying keeps popping into my head…..“When all is said and done, more is said than done,” and Davis’ talk scares me! However, now that I have said that, I think if Miami does not take the first game, the Celtics win in 4….if Miami does take the first game (at home), Celts in 5.
