Deron Williams, Rondo, the Celtics and beyond
I'm sorry, I know i'm the minority here, but I truly feel the Celtics must trade away Rondo. Rondo has shown flashes of brilliance obviously, but he is never going to work on his game in the off season.... this is a league of guards, you either need a superstar point guard or a superstar shooting guard... Rondo should have developed a jumper and decent free throw shooting by now (see Tony Parker)....especially since he's been in the ideal situation around three future hall of famers...
Now let's get to Deron Williams since everyone seems to either love Rondo or CP3... I've been watching D Will since he came out of college, same draft class as CP3 obviously... last season Utah went on this incredible run where they had a ton of fourth quarter comebacks and were beating teams like LA and the Heat... including several road wins... most of these wins were triggered by Williams play... This guy is competitive and he really wants to win and is a leader.....i. remember one of the western conference playoff series he called out his teammates sayins some of them don't want to win... I like Deron over CP3 because of his size, toughness and durability.... he is also incredibly explosive and can put up 30 points and 10 assists on any given night... I think if he actually came to Boston he coudl transform himself into a good Defender... imagine if the celtics could get deron willaims and al jefferson.. now that would be something as they were great together...
Beyond that, I am all for trading anybody on the current Celtics roster except maybe Pierce.... ... yes i love some of these players, but I absolutely do not want to wait another 21 years for a championship run... .. I really believe that the fans on this forum that think the Celtics can win a championship next year with the same core are in complete denial... we dont want to be "competitive" with early exits in the playoffs , we want a championship... hell I still haven't gotten over the Game 7 loss to the Lakers, not sure I ever will...just like I haven't gotten over Magic's hook shot in '87
S.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Maybe..?
Would you deal Rondo,Kristic, and Shaq’s Contract for John Wall and Nick Young?
absolutely...
but would the wizards really part ways with John Wall? Wall is super athletic and can score obviously.. he has all the tools…. ironic that you brought them up as I live in the DC area…Nick Young is also a solid player, could start with Ray coming off the bench or vice versa… I would love to get Kirk Heinrich on the celtics too.. great defender and could be a huge boost off the bench.. not sure what his contract is like with atlanta…

Crazy
Me and you think the same exact thing.i always wanted kirk here in boston can defend the Wades and Faster guards most people have trouble guarding.
yup..
i liked your post about Josh Smith, I would love to get him in boston, unlike KG he loves to go inside and bang and he’s super athletic… he’s no more of a head case than rondo is, and he wants to compete and wants to win… he’s also unselfish..

No clue why Rondo is getting so much Hate. His job isnt to score, its to fasciliate and his athletisism speaks for itself.
People talking about trading him, or trading for another point guard – Its a bad idea..
Celtics need to trade for a top notch athletic center and/or shooting guard. I would hate to see Pierce be traded, but he is the most likely candidate with his lackluster performances, slow legs, and inconsistancy.
Get rid of J-Oneal / Delonte West / Krstic / Let Shaq retire in peace-
I feel like Green shows good athletisism but needs to be worked hard with the intentions of creating a Michael Jordan 2.0 with confidence. If we arent striving for that then trade him, hes not big enough.

Rondo's only 'consistency' problem this year was health
When Rondo has been healthy, he is consistently one of the top 2 or 3 PGs in the game.
Folks are bailing on him based on his poor play in the second half of the season and I’m guessing due to the sub-par showing of our offense late in these last couple of playof games.
Surprise surprise – those times correlate completely with injuries.
This isn’t a Rondo specific issue. Look at Chris Paul. When healthy, he’s unbelievable. When he’s been struggling with injuries, he too has been reduced to ‘meh’ at times.
PGs are always at risk for staying healthy, because of the nature of the position. There is no guarantee if you replace Rondo with CP or DW or whomever that they will not also end up banged up for stretches at inopportune times.
Better or more reliable depth behind Rondo would help. If DWest had not gotten hurt last fall, perhaps Rondo would not have had to play so many minutes and would have been less beat up leading to that bad stretch in the second half.
But that would not have prevented him from getting taken out by DWade in the playoffs, though.
My assumption is that Rondo should be able to heal completely from this injury in time for next season.
Assuming health, Rondo is not where I would focus at this time for this team (other than making sure we have better depth behind him). We need to shore up the 4 & the 5.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.
Rondo
Was never a top 3 PG. He ranks somewhere between 5-9
