Is this happening..?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are looking to move their #2 overall draft pick this year.. for a veteran. And the Celtics are looking to (possibly) move a veteran for a young PG/SG combo guard.. With the second draft pick this year, the C's just might get a great backup for Ray Allen, or Rajon Rondo. So the question remains, if they do it, who will we trade? Personally I'd LOVE to get Anthony Randolph and/or Wes Johnson with the pick.. for someone.. I'm afraid of that 'someone' might be RayRay and maybe (resign him first) Von Wafer?

Anthony Randolph would become the (possibly, hopefully) starting PF whenever KG calls it a career. He is playing very well, and he is athletic! He has showed flashes, and when K-Love was out, Anthony played weery well as a starter. And of course, the pick. Young, healthy legs. And Wesley Johnson would be outstaning in the role as packing up Pierce/SG or even a PF. I would imagine he could start one day.. but-

I know.. I know.. its horrible, and hate the idea of trading RayRay.. but he has the best value, and would be a perfect fit for the team who actually drafted him..

so, here it is..

Celtics give:

Ray Allen, Von Wafer

T'Wovles give:

Anthony Randolph, Pick (or maybe work out a deal including Wesley)

So, any thougts?

“Randolph, listed at 6 ft 11 in (2.11 m) and 225 pounds (102 kg),21 is considered to possess excellent speed, athleticism, and ball handling skills for a player of his size. Though Randolph’s career is only in its early stages, he has been compared favorably to fellow NBA players Kevin Garnett, Lamar Odom, Chris Bosh, and Tayshaun Prince because of his on-court abilities and potential”

wow

That sounds like a dream. That Randolph kid looks really good. With that pick, they could also take Bismack Biyambo, or that derrick williams kid.

Williams will probably go 1st to Cleveland.

He fits there needs to perfectly.

But he worries me a bit, he as “I will be the next Evan Turner” written all over him.

Chad Ford said that Irving to the Cavs is practically a done deal...

i think they take irving and one of the euro bigs

either kanter, valanciunas or vesely.

baron davis, jamison and maybe varejao will be shopped this season for more draft picks, etc….

irving, kanter/valanciunas/vesely, hickson, erden, varejao is a good start to a team.

also, without a SG they may play sessions there this season.

True.

I like Vesley a lot, he might be the most athletic big man in the draft.

wow

how did i not know about randolph. I’m watching videos of him- he mpves like a gazelle and rebounds really well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgyybTWnyaY. I could only imagine what kg could teach him. AND if Kevin McHale was brought in as a coach……

id love the #2 pick but i doubt they trade it

and if they do it will be for a younger veteran, someone like rudy gay or danny granger, IMO.

i do believe we could land there pick at #20 if they want to ge rid of that.

Such a trade.....

Would not make us better next year. In fact, it would make us worse. Who would play the 2 for us?

I say ride it out one more year, add some pieces where we can, and see if this team doesn’t have one more fun in them. I think we can be better with Green, West, and Krystic having a full offseason to gel with the team.

Rebuild the following year.

There are some FA options there.

Rudy Fernandez and Wesley Matthews might just be available.

Either one is definitely start level talent. And both provide a needed shot creator of the wing. Much as I love Ray Allen, and he is the best shooter in the game, both today and in history, he just simply can’t create anymore. His offense is so dependent on others (both in good screens and ball movement, and in delivering passes perfectly to put him in shooting position) that it really limits how good he can be.

this trade would never happen

i don’t care how weak this draft is, why in the world would they give us the #2 pick for ray allen and his one year contract? it would be highway robbery and you think they will throw in a good young player too? thats just so far fetched its not even funny

Allen plays like 40

Need to get young why not Randolph

by juanpan on May 18, 2011 12:40 PM EDT reply actions

Allen plays like he is 28.....

Why is that not enough for some of you?

by Stanley1 on May 19, 2011 10:01 AM EDT up reply actions

As I posted in the "Draft Trade" thread, I don't think we can trade Ray

unless he wants to be traded.

This coming year is a Player Option year for Ray. So he gets to decide if he wants to play.

I just don’t think, given his son’s med issues and the ties his family have to this area (ex: his wife’s TV show) that he is going to agree to be traded to Minnesota.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.
