What in the world is with KG?

This guy is a 7 foot, lanky, tough, hard-headed Power Forward that cannot take on bigs like Dwight and Gasol? This guys is asking to be traded since he proved that he can't destroy Chris Bosh in the Miami series. Yeah, I know you're like: "KG is old dude..." So, thats suppose to mean he's useless huh.

All Im saying is that I really think that we should take away KG some how, and the same goes with that inconsistent Ray Allen. No, I am not a Celtic Hater. This is coming from a True Pierce fan that wants the best of the Celtic squad before our leader leaves in 2014. NO, OUR LEADER ISN'T RONDO!!! ITS THE GUY WHO WEARS #34!!! ( I hate when people say that Rondo is our leader)

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Out of the hundreds of NBA players,

Ray Allen ranks 2nd in 3 point percentage. I think you might have mistaken Ray for Big baby of something.

Defensively, Kevin Garnett did destroy Bosh. WTF says KG is useless? This is a Celtics blog, and I’m pretty sure if this was a Heat blog, they’d not only acknowledge KG, but respect him.

Did you watch the 2006-2007 season, hibernate in a cave, and wake up now or something?

Ray A still doesn't take as many shots these days

And he lost it even more in the Miami series, I beleive he could’ve did more.

KG was not that amazing too. This is why the Faker fans always tells us we are ignorant.

A Pierce blind fanboy post...

Yeah the Celtics should get rid of KG and Allen, and bench Rondo for being a “leader.” Just put Pierce out there by himself 1v5 instant championship.

who?

Are these great players we can trade 34 yo + players who are on $10 and $21 m per year?

by Derekg49 on May 27, 2011 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Yep

decent late sophmores or our old rooks(Semih, Gody, even damn Walker). I luv when our Cs get half young n’ half old. So fun to go to the games! Nice roster for Rondo’s dimes!

quick reminder buddy..

without kg,allen and rondo..pierce would still be a hell of a player but not a world champion..these guys are family and they know it..if you said that to pierce in his face..he’d probably smack the shoes off you!!

by seze70 on May 24, 2011 8:41 PM EDT reply actions

Thats why we should trade away Ray and KG

To bring in some younger players, b4 we get nothing back as the two retire.

by 2012Celtic on May 25, 2011 6:54 AM EDT up reply actions

I'm pretty sure

I’m pretty sure that the money that will be available in 2012 off of KG and Ray’s contract will bring better talent than if we traded them in 2011

by Cool Hand Luke 15 on May 25, 2011 7:23 PM EDT up reply actions

Agree

KG and Ray are not getting younger and with that, no team may want them with the salaries they have. It would be best to wait for their contracts to end and sign young and quality players than trade them for low valued young stars. Besides, you can still get around 30-35ppg between the 2 of them and their leadership and bond cannot be questioned.

by jhunjun on May 26, 2011 4:46 AM EDT up reply actions

Yea you may be right

But I want a good old Celtic run in 2012 (not literally old as in old players :P)

what u beehave yon drinking? Oh no, your a Celtic fan, right?

by rosalie on May 25, 2011 2:52 AM EDT reply actions

Did you even watch the season? No, you sound like someone who only started paying attention come playoff time. I, for one, DID watch the entire season (obviously not every single game, as I don’t live in New England anymore so it’s hard to get some broadcasts, but I watched the vast majority of them). Hell, it doesn’t even matter if I didn’t, because you can just look up the statistics online. KG and Ray Allen both had great seasons, with one of them playing statistically BETTER than they did during our 08 championship run. They were both among the elite players, dominating at their positions and ranking well across all positions.

Also, as a power forward he doesn’t take on “bigs like Dwight” because Dwight is a center, and they are rarely if ever matched up. And KG has historically done pretty well against Gasol. Hell, KG is intrinsic to the Celtic defense. If you subtract from this past regular season games where KG did not play due to injury, we would have the best record in the Eastern Conference. Obviously we did not, and we got knocked out in the playoffs with KG, but it still shows how valuable he is to the team.

+1

The whole premise of this thread is without basis in reality.

Ray had one the best years of his career – which is a Hall of Fame career.

KG was arguably the best defensive player in the entire NBA last year. Again.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.

by mmmmm on May 25, 2011 2:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Ray had on the best years in what? Points? Boards? Dimes? FG? You’re really only saying that since he broke a record that he started years ago.

KG wasn’t arguably the best D-Fensive player of the year, since he could guard Howard himself(unlike PK) and he only brang up the intestity FOR OTHERS.

by 2012Celtic on May 26, 2011 6:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Once again, you have proven you didn’t even watch this season. Ray Allen had one of the best shooting years in his career. 49-44-88 split, which is damned close to the rare and coveted 50-40-90. Look at his career stats … this season he had higher FG and 3-pointer percentages than he has EVER HAD. Only his free throws declined a bit. He also had more rebounds and steals than he has had for 4 or 5 seasons. Further more, both his PER and WP48 were among the highest in the NBA (top 10 or top 15 depending on how you parse it).

And I am not even sure what you just said about KG, because that isn’t even really a sentence. In any case, this was KG’s best defensive season since the ’08 title run, and his efficiency ratings also rank him high in the NBA (his PER is over 20, which is superstar level production, and he was the 8th best Power Forward in the NBA, and the most productive member of the Celtics).

So, please, present some evidence for your claims, because ever single shred of it I can find refutes your premise.

by RyNye on May 26, 2011 9:33 AM EDT up reply actions

I don't even know what he's basing it on

He’s way off on stats like you just pointed out, and it really doesn’t seem like he watched any games. Either there is something very wrong with him, or he’s just trolling.

Ray Allen
Year Team Min FG% 3Pt% FT% RPG APG SPG BPG PPG
08-09 BOS 36.4 0.480 0.409 0.952 3.5 2.8 0.9 0.2 18.2
09-10 BOS 35.2 0.477 0.363 0.913 3.2 2.6 0.8 0.3 16.3
10-11 BOS 36.1 0.491 0.444 0.881 3.4 2.7 1.0 0.2 16.5

he also had more rebounds and steals than he has had for 4 or 5 seasons.

Bad 09 season huh? Luv it how the minutes are about the same as this year!
(his PER is over 20, which is superstar level production, and he was the 8th best Power Forward in the NBA, and the most productive member of the Celtics).

Thats funny, why didn’t KG guard Dwight or JJ Hickson as much as his ‘stats’ show?

by 2012Celtic on May 26, 2011 9:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Ohh and...
this season he had higher FG and 3-pointer percentages than he has EVER HAD

I like him taking more shots bro.

I wish we could vote off a post!

I dream of a day where if someone get’s more than 20 veto votes, their post get’s deleted.

SMFH

Our defense is AVERAGE without Kevin and we have no low post offense without him and you want to trade him and Ray away? No offense but there needs to be a delete dumbass trade proposal button

I liked how you said KG makes our D amazingly better

He was really good on the court while those two made easy plays and dunks

by 2012Celtic on May 26, 2011 9:28 PM EDT up reply actions

You can't expect KG to make the opponent miss every shot!!!!

I’ve seen plays where Wilt would score on Russell.
Kobe, Carmelo, Iverson, Ray Allen and LeBron nail jumpers in Bruce Bowen’s face.
And please, easy plays and dunks? On KG? KG made those guys WORK for those plays.

by Celtics own the refs on May 28, 2011 9:22 AM EDT up reply actions

Yea, I know that

But you guys are acting like he’s got ultimate D, and Im saying look at his mistakes vs those two

by 2012Celtic on May 28, 2011 10:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Chris Bosh averaged 12.8 points against the Celtics

Against the Bulls a team that is also really good at defense, Bosh averaged 23.2 points. So many “nice plays” but he averaged only 12.8 points per game with KG guarding him, what’s your excuse for that? Amar’e only averaged 14.5 against the Celtics, his 2010-2011 average was 25.3.
