Celtics Work Out 5 Prospects
Despite downplaying the importance of the picks, the Celtics continue workouts.
Celtics work out 5 for draft - Boston.com
The Celtics worked out five players Saturday in preparation for the June 24 draft, including Jeremiah Rivers, the son of Celtics coach Doc Rivers. Malcolm Lee (UCLA), Chris Wright (Georgetown), Anthony Gurley (UMass) and Demonte Harper (Morehead State) also participated. The Celtics have the 25th pick and 55th picks in the draft.
For clarification, Jeremiah is the son that went to Georgetown then transferred to Indiana, not the one that is headed to Duke next year and might just be the top recruit in the country right now. That would be Austin Rivers. Would the Celtics draft Doc's son in the 2nd round just to make Doc happy? I don't know, would they hire Danny's son to be a D-League coach and then promote him to a position with the Celtics? Just sayin'.

The real question:
Does Doc want to coach his son? we all know Doc is tough on his young players, and he really has no room on his team for young guys that need to work on their game. I can’t picture him wanting to be so rough on his own son.
To be fair
Ainge the Younger worked for the Celtics before being hired as coach of the Red Claws.
sports are full of nepotism- it is just the way it is. Sorta like a family business. But some people are competent.
simul justus et peccator
Sherrod Blakely said Rivers' son was there only for a warm body for the other guys to work out agianst
He said this in a pm to me when I asked him on twitter
Wouldn't be surprised to see Rivers on the summer league team.
If there’s any trying to humor Rivers a summer league stint would give his son some exposure without wasting a draft pick.
Two Rivers + the rumored DH12 link => Doc contract extension
Am I thinking too much?
