Lawrence Frank "Blew Away" Pistons In Interview
Casey to Raptors getting closer | Basketball | Sports | Toronto Sun
[Casey] is slated to interview in Detroit next week, but that isn’t even a certainty since the word out of Detroit is Frank, the other finalist in Toronto, "blew the Pistons away" in his interview on Wednesday. Sampson met with Joe Dumars and his staff on Thursday and the club knows its former assistant, Woodson very well. Frank was the early favourite in Toronto and has now become the late-charging darkhorse in Detroit.
It was starting to seem like Frank would get passed over by every head coaching opening he applied for, but if this report is any indication, he might have finally found a home.

Who takes Frank's job
There is a world of difference between the Thibs/Frank job and the other assistant duties. And clearly that job is critical. If one of those other guys we have (Lester, Kevin etc) is not ready to step up the Cs ought to dump one or two of them and get new young blood in the pipeline.
Good for Frank. He followed a tough act and did well.
Larry Brown Is Coming
Larry Brown will take over as defensive coach. We know his history, but he is good friends with Doc, he loves to teach and he won’t have to hassle with ownership. He will only have to deal with doing his job without interference from others. He will have players willing to learn and this could be a great situation for him if he still loves to coach.

He deserves another head coaching job and I wish him the best
On the other hand him not getting a job means we get him for another year which would be great too. I wonder if any coach can turn detroit around, their roster is all messed up and their chemistry even more so.
I don’t think this would surprise Danny or Doc – actually I think this probability made it more urgent to get Doc signed for 5 years.
chicken and the egg
If Doc didn’t seem like he was staying long term, maybe Frank stays here and waits for that job.
Everyone blows out the pistons these days
