Is it really one more run for the core?

As far as free agents go when or if the lockout is lifted its going to be the same as it has been since KG and Allen arrived. Searching for role players to sign to one year deals, and vets looking to add, or get a ring. If there is a next season who can we add to really make 18 possible? Is it really one more run for the core? Or is it more about waiting it out till the summer of 2012 when management will have some money to play with? Either way I'm not going to let the lockout ruin my fun anymore.

We all know the biggest hole to fill is at center right now, and lets face it Chandler is out of reach as is Nene, and I would be surprised if Joel Przybilla is within reach. Centers are always in demand and more often than not over paid. We might have a chance at Marc Gasol if there is a fierce rivalry going on between him and his uglier brother that dates back to their childhood, and he decides to get on the right side to spite him (I wish). Dalembert is going to get more money than he is worth, and I hope Ainge is smart enough to see what few seem to be able to. Dalembert is overrated he even lost his starting position in Sacramento from time to time, in Sacramento! He refuses to leave the paint not rotating and leaving guys open. That's why he blocks shots and rebounds so well. Would the complex defensive system of the Celtics just be too much for him? I would like to see him as a third or maybe second option. Another guy that gets mentioned that I think is over rated, and the only thing he has going for him is his athleticism is DeAndre Jordan. He would be a nice third or possibly second option, but in my opinion that's about it. The 5 position needs to be at least 4 deep. JO is the only center on the roster. So who can really be brought in to help?

Alexis Ajinca as a third option might be good, he is big. Kwame Brown seemed like he was going to be in green last season, and has turned into a solid big guy.  For the dollar amount Ainge has to work with there just aren't many guys that are going to come in and make a huge difference. So I'm just going to leave the 5 spot at that. But, I hope I'm wrong and Ainge surprises us all.

When it comes to the 4 we have our starter in KG, we got the rookie Johnson, and hopefully one more solid player can be added so Green can be kept on board and used to keep Pierce fresh for the fourth quarter. Someone mentioned Reggie Evans, and I couldn't agree more! He would be a great role player, has hustle, rebounds, and really seems to sink his teeth in on the defensive end. In my opinion add him and maybe give Murphy one more shot, and the 4 spot seems pretty strong.

Allen is going to be around for another season, the captain aint going anywhere, Bradley is probably going to do more than make the sandwitches, it seems inevitable that Green will return, and Delonte's top priority is to be back in Boston. But will that be enough? I'm not sure Moore will be ready for the NBA, and Gilbert Brown "expects to be signed by the Celtics" But, one guy I would really like to see that would probably come cheap is Chris Douglas-Roberts. He is young, athletic, and could be good as a third option behind Green. But, a shooter is needed or two. Who could be brought in at a reasonable price that will make the other team pay if he is left open?

Rondo is going to need some help, and unless Bradley has improved in the ball handling department by leaps and bounds it would be better to keep him as a third option behind whoever is behinde Allen. If Delonte returns he will give Rondo a break but Delonte and Rondo alone wouldn't be enough. This proved to be a problem last season and I know all of us on here don't want the same problem to happen again. What about JJ Barea? He did great for Dallas in the Finals, and seems to have endless amounts of energy. He also seemed to be able to penetrate at will. I'm not saying do as Dallas did, but he will keep the defense on their toes. Imagine having to guard Rondo, then Rondo comes out and you think good I get a break. But, then you have to deal with Barea running around like a squirrel on speed. Other teams point guards would be spent by the time the fourth quarter starts.

I know the money just isn't there to bring in superstar talent, but I think the guys I mentioned could be had with the dollar amount Ainge has to work with. I know things will be different when the lockout is lifted, but I'm going on what could be if the lockout never happened. I know there are going to be injuries and set backs galore for the Celtics, and guys will have to play out of their comfort zone. We all know this team deserves a healthy season more than any team in the league does, because its our team. Too bad health, and good luck cant be bought.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

I think we'd ALL like to get DeAndre Jordan. But it just ain't going to happen.

Folks need to let it sink in that the Clippers have the last word on retaining him and will almost certainly do so unless they have a fit of Mad Cow brain disease run through their front offices.

We are not getting Jordan. Move on to other options.

NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.

Not Barea

Barea is not going to be worth what he gets paid this offseason. I’d rather keep that money for 2012.
