Yeah, clearly it's Larry Legend...
Havlicek is third. Fourth is tough… It’s probably Cousy, but McHale, Cowens, Sam Jones, and Pierce are all in the discussion.
Here’s how the forums voters decided a similar question, by the way (with a smaller sample size in the voting): http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=32500.0
All the negativity in this town sucks. It sucks, and it stinks, and it sucks. - Rick Pitino
Why do Celtics always talk about the past heroes. So what's in store?
Always who’s the best Celtic ever. What about who’s gonna win it for us next season, who’s new, what’s new? That’s what i wanna know. Sorry for being party pooper. Its just about time we deal with it.
Who’s new, what’s new?
The answer: nobody and nothing. Until the lockout lifts, there isn’t going to be a lot of news to discuss. I think Jeff has done well to find topics to discuss thus far, when the league is completely shut down.
Don’t worry, once the lockout lifts, there will be plenty of discussion of the coming season.

jeff has done a bang up job -
- even though i’ve become a negative nelly due to this stupid lockout and don’t post comments too often, i check this site every day
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk
Agree 100%
Jeff has done a good job and has made the Celticsblog still interesting to come to and read even considering the lockout and lack of NBA news.
Bird hands down
with Havlicek a close third.. I grew up watching Larry Legend, and I have watched Paul Pierce, and while Pierce is damn good, he just can’t compare the Bird. Maybe with a couple more trophies in his case we can start to talk about them in the same sentence, but not right now.
if #33 can't be #1, then he's certainly #2
it’s not even a question, look at the poll results…
still, i think it’s hard to compare generational baskeball
Bill Russell played against some inferior talent
Larry Bird played out of his shoes in an epic era of basketball, he gets my #1 vote
Paul Pierce, the playing field is sparse…too many teams
Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk
If Russell...
is to be considered #1 then Bird is no doubt #2.
I though am on the fence on who out of the 2 should be ranked higher as Bird was the all better around player I think, but Russel won so many darn titles wining 11 that its its mind blowing.
Rings?
Havlicek, 7. Bird 3. Just sayin.’ Not enough lifers here who remember Hondo (74 series vs the Lakers? Woooh, boy).
Oth, Hondo won with Russell while Bird dominated his era. And, in 84, Bird was celestial. So, ok. Bird is no.2. But so way Sir Paul passes Hondo. It’s immaterial, but still, no.

Hondo had 8 rings....`74 series was against Bucks
Havlicek is still Boston`s all-time leader in Points, Games, Minutes, FG`s
Thanks for the Corrections
So long ago. But it was Cowens vs Kareem (hence the LA connect, oh well). Anyway, Hondo was right in there and deserves his place near the top of the pantheon.

I remember Hondo very well....
He was truly an all-time great. Bird was better.

I voted for Bird
but i don’t think it really is that big of a gap (as the poll implies) over Hondo and Cousy – both deserve to be considered ‘right there’ in this ranking.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.
