I second this notion.
"Phil is obviously a good coach. You don't win that many games without being a damn good coach, ... Remember one thing: He's been very fortunate. He picks his spots. That's all I can say." - Red Auerbach
I Was Actually Just Thinking the Same Thing
This trade solves needs for both teams. Plus the Lakers still spare Bynum for a DH trade. I think Kobe would love to have Pierce playing by his side. I doubt this happens, but I would definitely sign off on it.
I think right now, Ray Allen is more of a leader on this team than Paul Pierce. I also think Pierce has lost that fire he had pre-2008 championship.
we give up a lot this year

this trade we basically give up most of our team this year but we would have lost all but rondo anyway next year. we get a franchise center and a good pf a good backup to pierce and a good backup to gasol plus we could demand their two first round picks since we would basically clear 20 million in cap room next season for them to get howard. they would have rondo bryant and howard and our staring 5 would be
1. fisher/ dooling
2.moore/ bradley
3.Pierce/ artest
4.Gasol/ bass/ walton
5.Bynum/steamer/JJ
now obviously we would have to play big for this year and we would be hurt this year because we would only have fisher dooling bradley and moore for the 1 and 2 but we would have four first round picks we could package 2 together and move up to take rivers and one of the good pg in the draft and we would be extemely good. this draft is loaded with SG and PG so we could have one of the best front courts in the league and a very young backcourt. we dont seem to be that great of a free agent destination so we lose the cap room we were going to have but we get some very good players in return and get a lot of pull in the draft
