Trade (if sub 500 at deadline)
I think our best option might be to let the year play out- then build a faster (more athletic) team around Rondo. We will be forced to do that if no star big men are available... but lets not go there. If we could do this... would we? (not sure of how cap and trade machine works so it may be unworkable, but humor me. Again -this is just for kicks.
Rondo, Wilcox to SAC for Cousins, Fredette (+pick)
Allen, Dooling to Memphis for Conley, Mayo
Kg, Daniels or (pick) to Hawks for Smith
Bass, Moore for Wilson Chandler or JR smith
Sign Green 1 year (cheap)
Line up Conley- Pierce- JR Smith/Chandler - Smith -Cousins
Freddette/Bradley- Mayo -Pietrus -JJJ-/Green Stiemsma/FA or Draft pick big
Draft PG or PF
Younger ... better?... possible?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Your trades are at least feasible...
but…
Personally, I wouldn’t want Cousins anywhere near this team, especially if all the veterans are being sent elsewhere. Cousins is a team destroyer and a petulant baby. Do we really want to suffer through the Cousins Era in Boston?
Memphis just signed Conley to a long extension. They have no reason to trade their starting PG (Conley) and 6th man (Mayo) for a 36-year-old SG (Allen). Without Conley and Mayo they won’t be championship contenders (if they even are), and adding Allen is moot after trading away those guys.
Because of Horford’s injury, the Hawks need Smith more than ever – he’s been averaging over 40mpg since Horford went down. By replacing Smith with KG all Atlanta does is get older and slower. If they thought KG would push them into championship contention then they would trade someone for him, but it will not be Smith, not unless the Celts added a 1st round pick or two. Also, Smith’s only interest in coming to Boston is to play with his friend Rondo.
I may be wrong, but I believe Smith and Chandler are free agents at the end of this season. I don’t think we’d need to give up any pieces to get them. We can simply bid for them in free agency.
Are all of these trades contingent on the one before them happening? Do you propose all of them as a sort of package deal or would you be fine with just one of them happening?
I do agree with bringing Jeff Green back, and keeping JaJuan. Should probably also try to keep E’Twaun. And, this team needs to draft BIG, regardless of who they trade for. There are no elite, big centers available in free agency.
good input wicklow
As I said in the opening statement, I think we would not go this route (extreme)- and I was having a bit of fun imagining. Wasn’t aware about Conley, so that would have to be Heinrich or somebody else. Thought a playoff team could use a Allen in some way. MOSTLY, i was posting this because I wanted to show that These are the players (minus Conley) that would most likely be AVAILABLE (due to issues of some sort. salary, etc). I would not propose an overhaul of this magnitude right now, but i tried to show a potential team that could come of such a bold transition. Some people have trade ideas for players who won’t come here, or are not on the block (or will be retained by current team)- and this is the “value” we could get in return for our players. Whatever we do, if it revolves around rondo, we certainly need to add speed and more committment to rebounding.
Josh Smith would be a great addition.
If KG and Allen come back on the cheap, and Rondo and Pierce aren’t traded…
Bringing Smith on board would be great… BUT, he’s under contract for next season, and Atlanta doesn’t need/want anything we have. They don’t even need Rondo because they have a young PG and a vet PG already.
Kevin Love is the man Ainge should target. Free agent. Natural scorer/rebounder. Start Love and bring KG off the bench, or play them both at the 4/5 spots. Keep Rondo and Pierce, and bring back Allen on a 1-yr deal.
If Love is brought in as a free agent, the team CAN BE:
Rondo / Allen / Pierce / Love / Garnett (or a true C)
Dooling (if resigned) / Moore / Green (bring back Jeff) / Bass (player option) / Johnson / Stiemsma (or a true C)
Ainge would probably spend money on another free agent SG or C, but that’s a realistic 11 to begin with.
I like your ideas. I don’t know if cousins & ferdette are a quality package, jimmer is a rookie so I haven’t seen enough to say move rondo for him.
Kg plus for smith wouldn’t work cause the money, and I don’t know if Atlanta wants to trade him now that horford is out.
The Memphis one is something I like. I don’t think they would move Onley but I do think ray and dooling for mayo and d.Arthur and Sam young could work.
The chandler and smith moves I think they are FA. So they would just need to be signed after the salary space is cleared up.
So I would do the Allen + for mayo +.. than move JO, Bradley and wilcox to Portland for a Camry or g.wallace.. Wallace would free up 2 spots. Allen would free up some money to Atleast attempt to sign chandler or smith for this seasons remainder of games
Reread
Please re-read the 3rd post — I tried to explain the original post there.
The cousins trade is the only one of these that would be considered by the other team.
I don’t think it’s at all realistic that the Hawks would do either of those JR Smith deals.
Seriously this time...
I thought JR and Chandler were under Nugget control (my bad)- but we should seriously look into one or both. If we can’tget a scoring post player, we need wings that can create and finish to run with Rondo. Keeping Allen AND Pierce AND pietrus leaves us with a dilemma. Either rebuild or let it go. Funny how people say nobody wants an aging SG like Allen, but say we should resign him because he is “ageless”. I think he would fit great with Memphis, OKC, and others- and he could be resigned by THEM too. Our loyalty could get in the way of truly building for the future – you can’t compare how good we could be to the Big three of 2 years ago. How can you really tell how a team will mesh- (Dallas anyone?)- but we KNOW what we have to do: get more athletic. I"m fine with PP or Ray off the bench as long as we split them up and combine them with another wing creator. Minus a big man who can score, we need scoring/attacking from the backcourt. Add a strong PF as a post option would be more llikely than finding a big man at this point.
