Josh Smith makes us instant frontrunners for dwight

josh smith has to be acquired at relatively all costs not named rondo because this is our only shot at Howard.

condensed version: rondo+smith>.....

Deron alone (for sure)

dirk and deron (somewhat old, so smith and rondo> just devon 1/2 dirk

kobe and gasol (old)

paul and griffin (only because they would have to trade for howard, unlikely)

so... unless miami or NY get involved we would be front runners

lets think: dwight likes brooklyn because of dWill..... and thats it (maybe the brooklyn aspect, maybe)

dwight likes the lakers because of kobe, who is not a reason to sign long term (though his stats tell otherwise)

dwights likes dallas because of dirk and the prospect of a big three of dirk Dwill and Dwight. thats at least understandable

and finally, dwight likes the clippers knicks, and quite possibly the heat for there big three capabilities

what do we had to offer: the best passer/ least shot taking superstar : rondo

Rondo is not enough of an attraction except... in my mind rondo/ dwight > deron /dwight

..but say we find a way to acquire josh smith, then we become athletic, young and a "best friend scenario" that which dwight can thrive in. IN other words, there all friends on top of being excellent.

if acquire smith,we are frontrunners in getting dwight this offseason. period.

dallas only has possibly a shot happy williams, and an aging dirk (not smart for dwight)

lakers, again are old, and i think dwight simply distastes Shaq's shadow (its probably cold)

clippers have more to offer than us, but having signed jordan to hefty contact it wouldn't be free agency, and if not free agency, then the lakers do have better pieces

so all in all, aquiring Smith gives us a great chance at dwight and if he decides not to come to boston, his loss and we still have smith

ok, you talked me into it. Let’s go ahead and acquire Josh Smith. He keeps calling drunk dialing us and leaving all these voice mails… it’s getting embarrassing. So, you’re right, let’s acquiesce. Next time he calls, do you want to answer the phone or should I?

On a different, but no less crazy note, I’ll give you that Rondo and Dwight would be the core of the best defensive team in basketball, but it would get awfully hard to score against five guys who all have one foot in the paint, don’t you think?

I we some how did acquire J Smittty and DH12 ....

We would need to snatch 2 really good wing players. Ones that can shoot the 3pter and anywhere.

this was along the lines of where i was going

we would be the best defensive team in basketball, two friends is better than one friend, there all young, and wing scorers come a dime a dozen especially if you’re already a good defensive team
