Kendrick Perkins has more TO's than Baskets
I like to think that Boston fans can be smart and logical in their discussions. The Kendrick Perkins hype and insistence that his trade cost us a title is neither smart, nor logical. Perk, last year, was coming off ACL surgery on one knee, sprained MCL on another, and was very over-weight. The media asks the players about Perk, they like him, so they say good things. What are they gonna say? He was overrated? We were glad to see him go? He never really played in the clutch, PJ Brown, Baby, or Rasheed played cuz Perk can't catch and finish without getting stripped? No, our guys are too classy, so they say they miss him. The media goes wild and you all freak out and turn into blind and brainless sheep.
The truth is that the corpse of Jermaine O'Neal, everybody's favorite punching bag, outplayed Perk head to head the other day, and is better than him in all the defensive measurements we have. See it here under the advanced section:

JO, this year, has a higher rebound %, block %, steal %, so why is Perk so much better on D? Because he gets technicals and looks tough? Perk does shoot a higher percentage than JO, but he also has a 30% turnover rate with all of his moving screens, travels, and drops which equates to a lower PER (JO has 10% TO rate). The point is not that JO is good, but that Perk is also not very good. On that link above, they have career comparisons for players and Perk's closest comparison is Scott Pollard!
Perk was hurt, out of shape, and asking for big money. He is not very good at 100%, and last year he was far less than that. OKC paid him almost 9 million/year (4 yrs, 35 million). How could Ainge possibly rebuild when he is paying a guy who averages 7 pts and 6 rebs 9 Million dollars? He got what he could at the time. Jeff Green's heart and then the lockout forced Krstic overseas, kind of freak things. Would you blame Red for drafting Reggie Lewis or Len Bias? Life is unpredictable. We do still have a 1st round pick from the trade. But that is all besides the point, the main point is that Perk is not any good, use your eyes and brains people. Eddie House contributed more to our championship team than Perk and he can't even earn a minute since. Can we just let Perk go on plodding up the court and averaging more turnovers than field goals (yes, that's right, he has more TO's this year than baskets) and let him go in peace. It is embarrassing, with a proud tradition of great players on the Celtics, that we even discuss this guy at all.
Ainge put it nicely on WEEI yesterday: "I don't no," Ainge said. "I love Kendrick. I drafted Kendrick, I feel like I helped raise Kendrick, I'm a big fan, but no I don't. I don't think that the struggles that our team had during the playoffs really had much to do with that. That's just my opinion and I'll never change that opinion. I'm not sensitive. I can look at it objectively. I remember when I when I was traded from the Celtics, that was the beginning of the demise of the Celtics. Was it because they traded Danny Ainge? It had nothing to do with it. It had to with the demise of the other guys that had carried this team forever."
Perk was just another role player. Just because Celtics downfall happened after Perk trade, that does mean that the trade caused it.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

the problem with your argument
is that perk fit into the C’s scheme perfectly. if he were still here, we would still be having the problems we have on offense, but I don’t know how you argue out defense wouldn’t be better. the problem is that his tough, bruising, physical game complemented our team so perfectly, now he’s trying to adapt to a team that’s based around finesse and speed. i still think he’ll get there, he works too hard not to craft out a niche for them, even if he comes off the bench behind collison/ibaka.
The Clodhopper
Enough with Perk, he’s gone………..
List all the stats you want
OKC’s defense is lightyears ahead of where it was before Perk. He’s definitely helping that team.
