Rebuild or stockpile

Lets assume that D Howard or any major impact player is not coming here. The two choices are now to 1. fully rebuild 2. stockpile younger, but more established trade and FA pieces to go with one or two of the big three. If we choose option 1, we should trade Rondo and collect a bunch of draftpicks. You can't surround rondo with a bunch of inexperience draftees- he will start to decline by trhe time we develop the young talent. So lets assume we go for option 2. There are some nice players out there that we should consider signing or trading for. They are not franchise players, but they could be great (lower cost) "stockpile" players-- in that they could provide talent for future trades (see big three --but i think the right combo would still be very competitive. Look at Denver's success after trading Carmelo. They had several talented (not star) players that really played well- and they were fun to watch. We could do this too. Pick AT LEAST one from each category. Guards: OJ Mayo, JR smith, Wilson Chandler, Wesley Johnson, Paul George, Nick Young Forwards: Jason Thompson, Maurice Speights, Michael Beasly, Paul Milsap Center: A. Mosgov, Roy Hibbert, J Magee All of these players (athletic) could compliment Rondo's game. Combine them with these players who should return from current team: Rondo, Pietrus, Allen OR Pierce (not both), JJJ, Stiemsma (low cost/no risk) Everyone else is open for debate- and depends upon who we can bring in. I say PP and RA could both be with us ONLY if one comes off the bench, AND we sign two of the guards listed above so we have another creator on the floor with Rondo. Draft Rivers or PG, and a big, and we could be entertaining and pretty decent. Bass/KG/ Bradley/RA/Wilcox/Moore/Dooling might be used in trade. Cut Daniels/Pavlovich.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

We should've signed Beasly

We had a chance and we missed it. Hopefully he gets tired of his minor role with the Wolves and comes with us

I don't follow rules, I let the rules follow me.

Rebuild… Stockpiling picks is a bit of a crap shoot. The celtics have assets to acquire talent to rebuild

Beasley still has a one year deal right? He is the main player I hope the C’s could trade ray Allen for

Realistic Expecations

No team is going to give us front line players for our cast offs. we should however look to trade for young unproven talent with lots of upside plus picks for all of our starters except Rondo. JO along with the big three will be needed by other teams competing for playoff spots at the trading deadline. we might have a slight upper hand at that time. if Danny plays his cards right I am sure he will. WE will come away with at least four(4) younger players with lots of upside plus four first round picks. we need to look at teams where coaches and GMS might be on their last leg if they do not get to the playoff. such as in Milwaukee, Utah Memphis Houston Golden State Atlanta and even Washington. THey all have desirable first round picks. we could use

Emotion = Disaster

A good GM doesn’t give a rip who he needs to trade.

1) KG and Allen have lost value, and one could argue that Boston held onto them too long.
2) Paul Pierce & Rondo are huge assets, but neither will see another championship in Boston because they can’t wait around while Boston rebuilds. There just isn’t enough time. It’s time to acknowledge this.

So, my prediction is that Danny may sign one of two free agents (just as this article suggests), but he will indeed package either PP or Rondo along with others to get picks and a young player. Boston will then sign Jeff Green in the off season because the kid is solid (not a superstar, but solid). Many Boston fans will rip Danny the same way they rip him on 98% of what he does, but we all know it must be done.

yup, it sucks but that is why he is paid the big bucks.

Agreed...you have to assume Ainge will move 2 or 3 of "big 4"

I don’t know if Danny will build around Rondo. I don’t think he likes him enough to commit to him. He may perceive Rondo is more valuable as trade bait. PP is wanted by a few contenders and why the he%$ wouldn’t they? He is a great player. I just don’t know about Ray and KG. The have value this season as expiring deals and helping a contender, but, I don’t know beyond that. Wouldn’t Ainge keep Ray?.

Danny has built up picks and good young players before…you have to assume he will do it again.
