When you are right, you are right
I posted a few days ago that Doc should go. Is there any doubt now? Look how well we played when once again Doc was forced into adjustments.
We need a coach that can develop all the players, and use all the players all the time, not just when his hands are forced.
I developed this theory about Doc during the 2008 finals when we almost lost games until Doc was forced by foul trouble to play Powe extra minutes and to bring in Brown for those timely jumpers and moves to the basket. We are going to need a coach that can empower the young players on this team
Go CELTICS!!!!
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

Um... it's been one game.
Rondo has been out for 3 games. dooling has been out for 6. During that span, Doc gave Bradley and Moore increased playing time. Why didn’t we dominate the Suns and Wizards without Rondo? Or the previous games without Dooling? Ray went down yesterday, so if you’re saying start Sasha is the key to our success, I’m afraid i’d have to disagree.
the notion that doc "doesnt play the young guys"
has been voiced a lot around here and its patently absurd. he plays the guys that deserve to play. i remember 2 years ago everyone wanted him to give bill walker and jr giddens more minutes. well now bill walkers on the knicks and is the 267th most efficient player on hollingers rankings and giddens is in greece.
so if you think doc could have played walker and turned him into a good player why cant ny do it? he has the playing time now but he still sucks.

Lol great post
People forget that Ainge made some mistakes drafting ever since the big 3 got together. They were mostly low picks so it is hard to get impact players, but he did pass up some guys (the biggest one is deandre jordan but there were a couple more). Doc hasn’t been able to emulate Popovich and play certain young guys heavy minutes or minutes during crunch time, part of that has to do with Ainge striking out. Just remembered Lester Hudson, oh man.
this^
A thousand times, THIS.
I’ve literally gone back and reviewed Doc’s use of rookies and 2nd-year players over the years and it is patently false that he is biased against them. His usage profile is almost identical to other good coaches like Popovich.
It’s very simple in this league – independent of Doc: The NBA is dominated by veterans.
The teams that play a lot of rookie minutes tend to be the bad teams or teams that have a specific positional need to fill (such as due to injury). Otherwise, contending teams just don’t give many minutes to rookies.
All you have to do is go look at all the playoff team rosters and add up the minutes given to rookies. Every year, it is tiny, tiny, tiny.
When the Celtics sucked, Doc gave more minutes to youngsters- that’s how Perk, Tony and Big Al got so many young minutes. Since they’ve been a contender each of the last 4 seasons, the youngsters have gotten far fewer minutes as a share of the team minutes. But Doc STILL has indeed been willing to go to the youngsters when he’s had to. Just last year he had no qualms about starting Semih Erden. He had no qualms about starting Rondo as a rookie and leaned on him even more in just his 2nd year on a title run! Doc gave Glen Davis 940 minutes as a rookie and over 1600 minutes as a 2nd year.
This year he’s had even more reason to go to the youngsters and he has, indeed, done so! Bradley (essentially a rookie, given he only played 162 minutes last year and is by age still the youngest player on the team), Stiemsma & Smooge have all gotten over a 100 minutes in this very young season. At the current rate AB will end up with close to a 1000 minutes and even Smooge will be close to 500. For a 66 game season, those are significant chunks for a youngster. And who knows? Those numbers could easily bloom if someone gets injured.
The idea that Doc is biased against young players is simply a myth. It has no foundation in fact.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.

dehins bro
moving forward, you still have to look at past success. And we wouldn’t have won it all in 2008 and wouldn’t have reached the finals in 2010 without doc. He’s a proven winner and he has to be the number one option moving forward. Besides, who else is available? Jeff Van Gundy?
he does really bench rookies
JJJ is good and he gets crappy mins
I don't follow rules, I let the rules follow me.
I was hoping JJJ would be more nba ready being a 4 year player but he doesn't look like it
Looks too raw right now, and he definitely needs to bulk up. Right now he can be pushed around by nba small forwards, let alone 4s and 5s.
or
You could argue he has been doing his job and getting Bradley ready for this opportunity …..don’t spin one game into something bigger than it is.
Since you are always right, who do you think is better than doc?
you're all right
Doc has confidence issues with all young guys- and there is no arguing that. Doc says things like “he doesn’t see things” about bradley— a fair point, but why say them to the media (justifying strategy?). You never hear POP degrade rookies to the public. That said, the problem is when you have stars who have performed well, and a loyalty to them, its hard to mesh young players in the mix. This year it should be easier, based on last night, to cut minutes for all the starters. As i posted before, the teams bench/energy performance comes from the knowledgethat you have the coach’s confidence, and that you are going to get your minutes. A fresh Bradley/Pietrus is better than a tired Ray. Garnett is playing in shorter spurts, and is playing better too. Last night is one night, and it will not always be that easy. The tough off-season decisions will be made easier as well if we subscribe to this strategy.
yep, you're right.
Avery Bradley is the only reason the Celtics won by 31, and with Rondo would have lost by 28. Much thanks, oh prognosticator of prognosticators, seer of seers!
Nick Swisher is hands^h^h^h^h^h delicious.
Whats your issue?
Never mentioned or compared Rondo with Bradley. I recognize both issues and none of the answers on any of these posts are anything but opinions based on prior knowledge. If you want to post- say something worthwhlie… and make sure it’s at least a little coherent.
Coherent means clear, or with knowledge… just in case
I'm pretty sure ChrisCEIT was pointing his sarcasm at the OP, not you, P stoff.

sorry-
Not sure that it was the kind of post we needed ayway- but you may be right. Apolgies for my part
it was pretty obviously aimed at the OP.
I would have replied to your post directly otherwise.

Bill walker sat than played here and there…but at thime nate was a bigger need on the team than walker so he was traded…. Gerald green not in the nba, giddens not the nba, you can make a case for Jefferson, west, gomes, TA, perk & rondo sitting but it did take time for all those players to reach there potential. And some are still growing. You might be more mad at the drafting of ainge than doc getting these players ready. Stiemsma spent years over seas learning what it takes to be a pro. Jjj looks shaky when he is out there. Moore has played well and earned time. Bradley when he was in there never had stretches like he is playing now. So why would you take rondo or ray out to let avery look bad and lose confidence. So you want doc to play every one one the roster no matter what. I think the twolves do that. No other team plays 14 deep yet you want the celtics to do that.
