Assumming Dwight wants/ does sign with the Celtics.

As noted by Roy, the Celtics could potentially have 25mil in cap space next summer to throw at Dwight Howard.

Howard could recieve between 18-20mil leaving 5-7mil for other free agents, i.e. Jeff Green.

Whose to say Dwight takes the max?

Also KG and Ray would have to sign for the minimum inorder for Green to sign.

Who is to say KG and Ray would take the vet min; while Pierce is making 17mil next season?

Would Dwight really want to eat 25-30 percent of his teams cap space? Yes, he more than deserves the money but if we as fans have learned anything in past seasons it is that fiscal and statistical sacrifice is nessary for the team and builds contenders. (LeBron,Wade,Bosh)

Maybe he would rather make a cool 14mil while helping out the team giving them more cash to build a champion.

KG and Ray are a very sensitive issue in terms of resigning and their true market value. KG and Ray could recieve a contract much higher than the Celtics will or can offer. They have made a very hefty amount during their careers but would they really take a 4-5mil+ pay cut at the end of their career to play for the Celtics while their counterpart Paul is making 17mil?

We here at the blog tend to throw around millions like it is a game: trade a guy here, take on a couple million here, attempt sign this guy for a few million less, ect.

All playing around aside, millions of dollars are exactly as they sound, millions of dollars.

So the questions at hand are will the financial loss be enough to keep them all away from Boston or will Dwight, Ray and KG all take less for the benefit of the team. I pray for the latter.

Dwight deserves his pay day just like KG, Ray, and Pierce all have. But in this new era ushered in by the Heat, less is the new more. More fame, endorsement, and hopefully rings.

So with the potentially 25mil in cap space, here is the everyone wins by thinking team/spread the weath scenario.

14mil to dwight, 5 mil to green, 3mil to kg, 3mil to ray

With 2.5 room exception to sign anyother guy.

or the give Dwight his payday and have him take ray and kg to lunch everyday until they turn 65 scenario.

19mil to dwight, 6mil to green, Vet min KG & Ray.
