I am having this recurring dream that the Celtics have won 4 in a row, all without Rondo, and two of them without Ray and JO. It is a little hazy, but it looks like a rookie and a second year man are getting a lot of play in the backcourt. also, two guys who look like Pierce and KG are plying really well, while the Pierce impersonator is playing like an MVP. Finally, some French guy keeps hitting big shots. Please don’t wake me up, because I like this dream.

Tonight was the greatest night of DOC RIVERS career in calling timeouts at the RIGHT TIME. Everytime I thought we needed a TO, Doc called one. Sometimes he lets the team play thru and it costs us.

I may end up eating a whole lot of crow if this keeps up and I will gladly do so.

i’ve been down on pp this year and i must repent- i am a sinner, he was magnifico again. the smart teams will adjust to what the c’s are doing, but we have options now and are far from one dimensional. great bench- every nite a new star- tonite= wilcox. go c’s.

It was a great win, a great week, we played with the right attitude all week for the first time this season. Our bench was very good top to bottom, Wilcox, Bass, Pietrus, the young guards, everyone you can name. If we play like this with our depth then ADD Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen to the mix, plus JO, this team can do whatever it wants to.

Too bad I live in l.a. and couldnt see it. A little off the subject but someone mentioned getting chris andersen…whats the story with him?

Pietrus and Bass are great. Wilcox is starting to round into form. Bradley and Moore are starting to show lots of promise

I am not convinced yet.. The celtics are winning right now because the injuries to ray and rondo permit doc to use the right combination of players who complement each other. Im sorry but rondo need to come off the bench and let moore start as he can hit the open shot and I also think ray shuld be coming off the bench and pietrus should start because hes more athletic and a better shooter than ray it seems.

Can’t ignore how bad the refs were in this game. Did they have money on the spread? Whatever…. worst officiating of the season to date.

Who knew Wilcox could play basketball? I thought he came here for the R&R, the nice medical staff, etc. Turns out he’s GOOD.

3 games, 3 different new-guys step up to dramatically affect the game. THIS is how a championship team is built through the regular season. You can just FEEL the confidence, the trust, the FUN, and the intensity growing with each game. All of which is coinciding with their physical improvement… they’re getting into game shape, and it’s showing in their performance.

At this point, I’m prepared to call the Cs true contenders. As the season moves on, that may change to ‘top contenders.’

I’m just curious to see what happens when Ray and Rondo come back. Because the last time they played, this team was a lot different from what it is now… much less energy, intensity, trust… pretty much less of everything. I believe they won’t be able to resist joining in…. but I’m not sure about that. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

A lot of folks jumping up and down here are in that Ye group you mention.

I’m not a genius (especially about formatting these posts) or the only one who said things like this, but a week ago exactly I said the following about all the talk breaking up the Celtics Big Three and what comments Danny Ainge was or wasn’t saying:

All I do know is that we nor the media know anything. I don’t think Ainge is interested in doing anything now but listening. I think no comment from Ainge is the best, and if anything, it acts as a bit of a motivator for the main guys, who do not want the team broken up.
If you look at the schedule for the next couple or few weeks, in two to three more weeks (10 –12 more games), or so, I am guessing there is a good chance the team will be at about .500 or better and with the signs of improvement that we are beginning to see. But if that is not the case, and the Celtics remain 4, 5 or more games under .500 at that point, then the team may very well look to add to the assets/options they’ll have going into next year. What form that takes who knows, but one of the least likely would be trading Pierce.
That said, I like the teams I root for to have some continuity that I can identify with, and I think Pierce could be a very useful piece in many ways on and off the court, as the Celts rebuild . Ray would bring those values as well, and to date he is a physical marvel and a great role model, who could be continue to be a valuable contributor, if he played on a much lower contract. KG could have value in a back up, mentoring and leadership role, if he would do it at a price that lets them bring in the frontline players they will need. But with KG, I don’t know if his emotional makeup will allow him to go that way.
Times are a changin’, but these three guys, who do not have chronic injuries that won’t let them play (as Bird and McHale did), could be instrumental in developing a team for the future at the right price.

One of the key points I think is that the Celtics know what they are doing. Everything they do doesn’t work, but their philosophy for assembling a team and style of play is better than probably all other teams, except for those who do very well at copying them (very few and usually former Celtics are involved). And it does take a little time to assimilate new players into the way they play. No training camp to speak of magnified that issue. They do know how to fix problems and play team bball as well or better than other teams (look at their assists even without Rondo) and their defense.

Looking for the first opportunity to bash Doc and Danny or ownership is not what they deserve. I understand younger fans without experiencing this team in the 50’s through the 80’s should be cut some slack for doubting, but in the long run you’ll sound far more grounded in what the Celtics are about and raise the quality of conversation here if you remind yourself of that.

They may not have enough to win it all this year, but then again with time they just might. But they try to play the game the right way and they tend to get the most out of their talent and when they get it right they win championships.

A few of us have been saying this all year. Find the 3rd team. Jermaine, Bradley, Dooling, Marquis, 2013 1st, Steimsma, rights to BEN PEPPER…any combination of those players can go.

RAY ALLEN as your 6th man, ala Jason Terry. Rondo starts ALWAYS. You people are way too high on Bradley. He has to lead the league in front rims and air balls. 1st team all defense if voting was today.

1st- we have our captain back on board
2nd- chemistry is almost there
3rd- love the combo between pietrus and bass
4th- avery big D changer
5th- moore big O changer
6th- 4 winning streak and going

so now all we need is a starting center who can shoot, rebound, defend, run, bang players, and the heart of a champion to lead us to a banner 18.

give avery bradley a chance I know that we saw a lot of air balls and bricks but if you take a look at kobe bryant he had plenty of bricks and air balls on his rookie and sophomore year but look at kobe now making shots like its magic so give avery a shot let him learn and have the nba feeling and plus it kinda look like it had the same type of shot as kobe so give avery a chance who knows if he grew a little bit more taller lets just see and wait.

so what happens when we start rondo and ray and we have another 1st qtr where we score 16 points? I love what pietrus and bass bring to the table not to mention bradley and moore. the injuries to rondo and ray have been a huge blessingin disguise. avery and moore have developed confidence and pietrus wilcox and others are getting much needed pt. JO remains the one really weak spot on the roster but at least wilcox is now starting to play better. and I forgot about dooling but really where does he fit in on the depth chart now? have bradley and moore moved ahead of him?

watch the highlights from the past 4 games and look at how many times pierce is able to get to the hole using his left hand. he has become positively Bird-like with the left hand although he will never be able to shoot lefty like bird. teams aren’t expecting him to go left and it’s working great for him.
