Problems
- We have no post involvement in the offense. Why does it seem like Bass is our only big that doesn't see the rock as a hot potato? Where is the aggressiveness from KG? He could and should score 15-20 points every single night, yet he is one of the most passive players on our team.
- Avery-freakin-Bradley. I understand seeing potential in a player but come on. The guy does absolutely nothing on the floor but play defense. He does not belong in the NBA, period. I thought Doc said Moore had passed Avery in the pecking order. Guess that didn't last long.
- IMO, Doc Rivers is an extremely average coach. Before you all reply with the hate posts, hear me out. Defense has been our main emphasis for years now. Yet, when Thibs left it slid a bit. Frank followed and it slid even more. Our defense is average at best nowadays. And our offense isn't much better. We have so many weapons and we still fail to shine in that category. We walk the ball up the floor, jog from spot to spot, and get bailed out at the end of the shot clock by Pierce or Allen. Why doesn't Doc get in everyone's face and instill some urgency and aggressiveness?
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

which ones?
avery provided good defense and a little more offense because of the extra PT, but nothing to get overly excited about. kg was productive when he decided to shoot. and bass was great as usual. with that said, i think it only reinforces my opinion on both of those subjects. we need to get kg more involved. it will open up pierce and ray even more. avery is too short to be a one trick pony. he has to start producing more offense when hes in the game. and i love doc but he still needs to change a few players mentalities along with our offense. if pierce wasn’t his usual great self then we could have easily let that game slide last night. i am one of the few people that still believe we are championship material, especially when everyone is healthy. i have high expectations for pietrus when he gets to 100 percent. i think his shooting and energy will help our offense tremendously, but we’ll have to wait and see.
on doc
i think the “sliding” in defense has way more to do with the age of the big 3 than coaching. after all a coach is only as good as the players on the floor.
Also, it’s a bit of a stretch to compare this season’s defense (or offense) to other seasons. We’ve played a total of 7 games so far. Comparing that to an 82 game season (plus playoffs) isn’t the ideal way to evaluate the evidence. What’s wrong with waiting a while before making outlandish claims about how bad we are?

i never said we were “bad”. i think we are still a top 5 team in the league. i was just highlighting some things that have me concerned at this point in the season. i agree though, we’ll have to wait and see how things play out. i have full faith in us but every team has room for improvement.
You’re right, you never said that. Apologies my friend.

But you DID say
“… when Thibs left it slid a bit. Frank followed and it slid even more.”
The year after Thibs left, we finished the season tied with Chicago for the best defense in the NBA (as measured by fewest points allowed per possession). Before we got decimated by injuries we were easily the best defense in the NBA.
So I’m not sure it’s accurate to say “when Thibs left it slid a bit.” It didn’t, really.
And as IsitTheShoes points out, the sample is far too small to say anything yet about this year’s defense (“Fank followed ….”).
NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.
fair enough
though i dont think one can argue that our defense was as good as 08 or 10 when we went to the finals. thats all i meant by it sliding a bit. i hope that i get proven completely wrong and our defense returns to championship form.
Defense
What defense we can’t stop our own mom’s that’s how bad we play.
