Perry Jones III vs. Fab Melo

There seems to be a consensus that the Celtics got a "steal" when Jared Sullinger slipped in the draft. Right after Sullinger, the Celtics picked Melo, a consensus "project." In doing so, they passed over Perry Jones, who had an excellent pre-season with the Thunder. Did the Celtics make a major mistake in choosing Melo over Jones? jones is 6'11" and very athletic. I thought of this question when reading about Celtics (Red) making a big mistake in choosing Michael Smith over Tim Hardaway, Paul Silas and Shawn Kemp in 1989 and, something I have never seen discussed, the Celtics' decision in 1964 to pick Mel Counts over Willis Reed. If Jones develps into a "superstar,: which the Thunder's Blog suggets is at least possible, could the Melo over Jones decision rank as one of the worst picks since Counts over Reed and Smith over Hardaway, Silas and Kemp? Of course, if Melo blossoms into a dominant big man, maybe not a mistake, but right now, Jones looking pretty good.
