New season, new teammates, same sad result. The Celtics made a valiant comeback effort but it wasn't enough as their defense failed them tonight.
Lack of defense is the theme of the night as the Celtics simply couldn't stop the Heat in transition or even in the half court. The Heat had 93 points at the end of 3 quarters. You just don't win many games that way. Especially against the defending champs.
Doc went to Barbosa faster than I thought he would and Leandro answered the call with a huge 4th quarter that helped the C's cut the lead down to 4 late in the game.
Courtney Lee's defense on Wade was actually very impressive in the first quarter but foul trouble limited him.
Nobody could slow down LeBron James, who happens to be pretty good. The only thing that stopped him was heading to the lockerroom.
Ray Allen had a very solid 19 point game that I'm sure he was very amped for.
19 for Bosh as well. Did anyone on the Heat have a bad scoring day?
Celtics bench as a whole only scored 29 points and 16 of those came from Barbosa, who's been here what, a week?
Rajon Rondo had a solid all around game (20 pts., 13 assists), but not a superstar outing - which I think is what we're going to need to beat the Heat more often than not.
Solid, strong game by Paul Pierce, who looked spry at times. So glad to have him healthy and ready for the start of the season. Stark contrast to last year.
Kevin Garnett, however, was quiet at best for much of the game - which wasn't expected.
The Heat are very good, but the Celtics should have been better on defense tonight. Tough to take loss that reminds us just how far we have to go to get past them.
