Rondo is a champion, our best player, and a top 5 pg
Deal with it. If you don't like it then go watch the Heat. Because Rondo is a Celtic and always will be to me.
As for Rondo:
Best passer in the league
Best defending pg in the leage
Best rebounding pg in the league
Best FG% as a pg
He isn't just good because he plays with HOFers
Grittiest and toughest point guard in the league
Sure he can't shoot outside, and he can't shoot free throws but look at that list up there. Everyone has holes in their game and his positives really outweigh his negatives.
If they aren't named DRose or Chris Paul then I'll take Rondo every time. And to be honest I would rather have Rondo then those 2. He might not be better then them but he's a true Celtic.
Tonights performance was one of the best by ANY player this season.
If you don't like Rondo's game then get a clue.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

is pretty impressive on anyone. no matter who was guarding him.
Here Here
The OP is spot on.
IF IF IF we trade Rondo , we better rip the other team off and sell high.
Not scraps from the Rockets and Lakers.
If you want to rebuild at least get younger, don’t take 31 yo Gasol w/ his huge contract off Lakers hands.
Rondo is elite PG.

great game rondo, even if derrick rose wasn't playing you...
MUCH BETTER than your last game of 5 pts, 7 ast, 5 to against the Toronto raptors….
He's not top 5 this season...but
He’s been overly criticized (a scapegoat) for this teams problems, particularly late game.
A game like this is good to remind people how valuable he is to our franchise.
He won’t do this every night but he will run the floor in transition and destroy defenses single handedly in the open court.
Tonight was great because he had time to run with Wilcox and Johnson who complement his run and gun style.
I agree, he’s the best player on our team and it disgusts me how quickly he’s been thrown under the bus after coming back from injury.
I'll add that a top 5 PG is someone who gets 20 points and 10 assists every night
So he is close, but probably not in the ‘elite’ category this year, which injuries have a lot to do with.
the top pg all have something in common...
They are committed to bring the effort ALL the time, every quarter, every game. They don’t check out or take games off… the Rondo we saw today is the Rondo we all love… the Rondo we saw in the Toronto game is the Rondo we want to trade…
rondo plays too fast for this team...
And the only players we have to run with him are jjj, Moore, Bradley, pietrus and sometimes Wilcox (at least until he gets hurt again) oh and bass, a lineup of those guys will get eaten alive come playoff time. When we get to the playoffs we are facing the same fate that happened to us last year, except this year we probably won’t make it pass the first round. I will gladly eat my words if we win it all this year:-)
I agree with everything you said but for everybody else
top 5 point guards who belongs to this category
D.Rose
C.Paul
J.Wall?
R.Rubio?
S.Nash?
D.Williams?
T.Parker?
T.Lawson?
R.Felton?
B.Jennings?
K.Lowry?
S.Curry?
K.Irving?
I mean i’d put Rondo over any off these guys any day.
PALESTINE FOREVER
Not me
Rose
Paul
Westbrook (everyone will argue that he’s not a true point guard but he fills the position very well)
Williams
Nash
Parker
Curry
Erving
Jennings
Rondo
And in a couple of years expect to see Rubio and Wall above Rondo too. Sure Rondo’s top 2 in passing, top 2 defensively at his position too but he is also top 5 in turnovers, top 5 in holding the ball for too long and by far the worst jump shooting starting point guard in the league. Any other starting PG would salivate at the idea of having that much room to shoot wide open jumpers if left as open as Rondo is every game. Still top 10 is pretty good in a league that’s saturated with talent at that position at the moment.

How good is Rondo
The tempo in the playoffs is completely different than the regular season. Against the Heat last year in the Playoffs even before hurting hills elbow Rondo was ineffective. The Heat forced the Celtics to play a half court game and he couldn’t knock down the shots. The lakers two games played off Rondo and he couldn’t consistently knock down jumpers. He’s a good player but you can’t win a title if he’s your best player.
rondo no longer compliments the big 3's skillset...
Unless you get rid of Rondo, get a center a la the Nash/gortat trade, OR
You break up the big 3 to get younger run the floor athletic players,
WE DON’T win a championship THIS YEAR!!!!
EXACTLY-right on greensince72
Its one or the other. Those that think we can keep KG and Ray for cheap have to realize that we will continue to slow down Rondo’s game. You can’t have a starting unit based on transition, and a 2nd unit that walks it up— cause you have to mix and match throughout the year. If you keep KG and Ray next year— then the only trade value you have is Rondo, Bass and your picks in order to get a big man or two. If we could get a couple of wing players who can run and create, then the Big men just need to rebound and defend the rim.
if in the playoffs...
You’re PG cannot consistently be a threat to score behind the arc or have the ability to make ft’s at a reasonable , ie 75-85, then in the half-court game the other team is going to sag off the PG and pray/beg that he shoots. Unless you have a low post presence of some kind, be it at the center or power forward position, you can not be successful, you MUST HAVE SOMEONE that can operate in the 3-12 ft range in the paint, also must be able to defend the same range, WELL, we don’t have either of those players on this squad…
