Is it possible...
to somehow acquire Ersan Ilyasova & Nicolas Batum??? Both are unrestricted free agents, whose teams didn't extend a contract to when they had the chance.
Could we send "player A" + 1st round pick for Ilyasova??? If so, who would they ask for??? Making 2.5M this year.
Could we send "player B" + 1st round pick for Batum??? If so, who they ask for??? Making 2.2M this year.
Both of these players are proven young talent coming off rookie contracts, they are better pieces to build around for the future than the maybe a good player down the road upside of a mid-late 1st rd pick. Whatcha think???
Going forward, provided we don't have to give up one of the following, our roster could have these young pieces,
Stiemsma, Ilyasova, JJJ, Batum, Green?, Pietrus?, Moore, Rondo, Bradley,
VETS, Pierce, Allen, KG? Buy a 1st, 2nd, we have our 2nd.. We could get young quickly and remain competitive...
Keep it clean, thanks.
Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

youre missing a key point
its too late to extend their contracts so we cant give up picks for them or else we risk them walking in free agency and not having picks. if portland knows batum wont be back next year though then they might be willing to rent him to us for a project player like bradley that they would develop and then we have to risk if he will resign or not

we couldn't get them through a sign/trade before the trade deadline?
If we couldn’t we would still have their bird rights enabling us to match???
meant to say if we could we would have bird rights...
Enabling us to match/sign them, is that correct???
ilyasova is an upcoming unrestricted FA, so you wouldn’t be able to match on him. Bird rights unimportant since you’d be a mile under the cap in the summer. Milwaukee is a half game out of the 8th seed, they aren’t trading a guy for your package when he’s in their rotation
Batum is an upcoming rrestricted FA, so Portland isn’t trading a guy for your package they still have rights to when he’s in their rotation and they’re a playoff team.
ok, thanks...
Let me see if I got this correct dangnqbbit cba, if we traded for an unrestrited fa, we would basically be renting him, hoping he would resign? If we traded for a restricted free agent, then we could match, no matter what? Thanks…
