center trade

it works on espn trader. Jermaine o niel and his contract as well as dooling for blatche. The wizards dont need blatche and wud like the expiring contract as well as a back up and mentor to wall. Cs get a proper big man who with better influence around him wud thrive. Hes the same height as O'Neal. and only last year was averaging 8 rebs a game 16 pts and a blk. hes also only around 25/26 - Thoughts?

Player selection??? Dwight Howard or Blake Griffin FA is Best to look forward to not an average Center—NEED a “DOMINATING” Center!!

dominating center

Jer O neals contract isnt whats going to land dwight howard. it will da money comin from KG and Ray Ray contract. u can still add blatche and contend this year and still go for da big free agents in da summer.

not an easy trade

it’s easy to ask for a trade if you will only think on C’s side. For sure, W will likely trade Blatche… but for JO? Come’on, get real….. much as i want to have hibbert, and JO would like to retire as a pacers, I don’t think Larry will give in to this even if we package it with picks and rooks.

all that is in the table for trades are downside…so, C’s should just be prepared with this lineup.

what about taking a risk

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=89e8mwv
we also get the hornets first round pick unprotected and maybe try to get the minnesota pick too
we get a relatively inexpensive point guard in return (half price of rondo)
we get kaman to hold down the center spot for a playoff run.
we give up a lot and the hornets would accept this as trying to convice eric gordon to stay
we downgrade in pg but we can draft a young pg with our pick or the clippers pick in the draft and we would still have jack under contract for the PGs rookie year so there wouldnt be a ton of pressure.
we rent kaman for a season and he holds down our center spot
i think we actually would be better this season (if we could mesh quickly) and plus we get an extra pick in this draft
then next years draft we can draft drummond out of Uconn teague out of kentucky and joseph out of syracuse plus another player if we get the minnesota pick (currently 12th)
next years lineup would look like
jack/teague
moore/pietrus
pierce/joseph
JJ/KG
Drummond/Kaman (if he wants to sign with us)
we would get a lot of young talent infused into our team but its a risk as to if the picks pan out
basically we are renting jack and kaman and trading rondo plus young guys for a top 4 pick

by JuJuan some moore on Feb 14, 2012 7:45 AM EST reply actions

in terms of cap space

we would have 6 million more in cap room (if bass were to opt out) 10 million more cap room (if he was going to use his player option at the end of the season)

by JuJuan some moore on Feb 14, 2012 7:47 AM EST up reply actions

just did the math

salaries in ()
Jack (5)/teague (1.3)
pietrus(2)/moore(.5)/allen(2.5)
pierce(15)/green (5)/joseph(1.2)
KG(2.5)/JJ(1)
Howard(18)/drummond(5)
plus .5 for our second round pick and we are right at the cap

Maybe simplify the trade

How about Rondo + O Neal for Kaman and Hornets 1st pick (unprotected)?

We get a center, an expiring contract, and a hopefully high pick in a deep draft. I’m not sure if I want Jarret Jack’s contract especially since he doesn’t expire this year.

I agree with Ainge’s assertion that if we trade Rondo, we should be getting a SUPERSTAR in return. In my mind, superstar would be something like:

Deron Williams
Howard
CP 3
#1,#2, or #3 pick in the draft.

well thats fine but

we have to get the nba to agree to the trade and i think if they get rid of a bad contract (not that bad) plus get a young player then they are more likely to accept

booker

T booker had just taken Blatche starting position. So they had alot of money invested in a guy who isnt starting for a further 4 yrs. They wud want him off da books where they then have more draft picks in da summer and if ended up giving shard lewis an amenisty they have a fortune to spend on free agents. and they also get a serviceable backup and mentor to wall. blatche is no hibbert

kg & allen...

Are going to get at the minimum of 5 – 7.5M each. If a kwame Browne is worth 7M to a gs team, imagine what an Allen or kg would get, kg will still get you around 12pts,6 rbs and Allen is shooting as well as he ever has, so forget about them giving the Celtics a hometown discount for 2.5M, that would be an insult to them that would probably usher them out of town… Allen will probably be offered a 2 – 3 yr contract in the range of 7M per yr. Kg may decide to come back on a 1 yr contract around 7.5 – 10M, if not he will probably retire, he is too proud to take less and doesn’t need the money, heck, I think he still has something like 15-20M coming to him AFTER he retires…

If we believe other GMs can be conned as Washington’s, why not go for an even better trade and trade Dooling and Oneill for Paul Gasol and Kobe? It my work just as easy.

by Dantenina on Feb 14, 2012 7:07 PM EST reply actions

You’ve offered Washington nothing for Blatche.

Even if they want to move him, they can get more than nothing for him.

by mcpickl on Feb 14, 2012 7:51 PM EST reply actions

cap space

its all about cap space. they are going to have a high pick in da draft and with this contract off the books (4 yrs) they have da money to get a free agent. just look at Lakers lettin Odom go for a trade exception as a example

by Simon Shannon on Feb 15, 2012 4:27 AM EST up reply actions

they could get cap space, and something valuable for Blatche if they want to move him.

They don’t have to just dump him for a pile of crap to save money

by mcpickl on Feb 15, 2012 7:39 PM EST up reply actions

I see what your saying.

With Blatche I agree, waste of talent. Maybe will get his head right one day but not a fan of him. No effort, gives up faster than Randy Moss and negative on the floor. Plus not a true Center, True centers will crush him up like dried up ramen noodles.
BUT
I WOULD LOVE McGEE.. he is a work horse! I’ve seen some Wizard games and with him they Rebound, Block shots, RUN on fast break and have ENERGY. When they take him out, the team doesn’t do any of they things i just mentioned. They become selfish and no one can find Waldo.. I mean the Defense.

Saying that, Wizards will never trade McGee to us, because Wall and him are their cornerstones and we have no one they want…
