Why you guys wanna trade Ray Allen?

Almost every comment that I have read regarding trades or anything to do with it. Its like 80% of it has Ray Allen on the table. We have to be aware that every contender out there wants to have an Ray Allen on the bench. And here we are having Ray Allen, seems like some wants to trade Ray Allen, Come on guys give Ray Allen a break. Give the BIG 3 a chance to finish this season then we will discuss again after the season with Banner 18 hangging.

Be respectful and keep it clean. Thanks.

We need to enjoy this team while we still can. I would be happy if we could add a center before the end of the season as a final peice. We can’t make any major move unless it truely benefits the team before next season.

I am not for trading him

But the Big 3 are our biggest trade assets and of the 3, Allen has the most tradable contract as Garnett’s is too large and Pierce’s is too long. I think that is why he is mentioned in most of the trades that include the Big 3.

Banner 18

Trade Allen, JO and Daniels for Kaman and Gordon instant Championship ……. and bring Sheed or Knuckhead JR Smith or Gangster K-Mart ……

by juanpan on Feb 2, 2012 1:58 PM EST reply actions

That would work

But the Hornets would never do it. Mind you I would like to get Gordon and Kaman here some how. Trade Rondo and JO! They probably wouldn’t even go for that though

No, just no.

Get Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh…and with our current bench as it is, instant championship.

if we win banner 18 this year

i will come on this site and write a fanpost about how wrong i was but as it is right now this isnt a championship team in my opinion. Unless Oneal can somehow become a starting caliber center i dont think we will make it. The reason i think we should move allen is because he has the best contract, he has the most value, he has the most teams with that need (over the other two of the big 3) and his game would make the easiest transition into any offense. I think we could get back first round pick from a contender for him (which wouldnt be a top 20 pick but we get something) or we could get a young player that a deep team just drafted and is buried in their rotation (someone like JJ who doesnt get time) I think there are teams that would look at their roster and think allen is the final piece so they would give up a guy buried on the bench even if he has a lot of upside.
Its cool watching allen and always fun when he punishes the defense for leaving him alone but it would help us rebuild if we traded him

Emotions

Nobody is a better PERSON than RA- will do anything it takes for the team. The beauty of all of the big 4 is that they possess these qualities. We know what they used to be (and sometimes still are) and we try to justify holding on for the sake of loyalty. This is very appropriate. But sometimes you got your favorite car sitting in the garage… it doesn’t run great but boy the memories it brings. The new car doesn’t always look as good- and is not as comfy, but the neccessity to use it eventually becomes inevitable. A good wash, wax and tune-up (Toronto) makes the old car look better- but we know the truth deep down. do what you have to DA…. though it won’t be easy

DA has to go the Red way with the Big 3

In my opinion, this would set a standard for the future. Of course, this is business, and if a good offer happens, you improve your team. Loyalty doesn’t mean you don’t trade anyone, but trading your players when it’s worth it.

The Perk trade , the Rondo trade talk, and the “everyone is on the trade block” state of mind don’t mean every member of the Big 4 will be traded for pennies. And if I was DA, I would say the same things, but unless a great trade opportunity is on the table, I’ll try to retire these guys numbers and use them as mentors of the future Celtics.

To get Russell, Red had to trade Macauley, who had gone 6 times to the All Star game as a Celtic. I doubt Red would trade any of the Big 3 members for the sake of trading, and I think DA won’t do that either.

I hope Ray, PP and KG retire as Celtics, and stay involved with the organization, and I hope Rondo matures and starts playing with motivation. When motivated, he can dominate games like few players in the league, even without a reliable jumpshot.

But if any of them is traded like some people here are leaning towards, I don’t think it will be a loyalty thing, but plain business, and like P stoff says, it won’t be easy.

I just don't see a trade scenario that makes sense

Ray is most attractive to a contender. But most contenders are not going to have something to give that will help us now. I.E., we aren’t going to get a good 7 ft rebounding machine from a contender. I have not looked exhaustively at the rosters of every team, but I just don’t see anything like that coming from the contenders that I could think of that could use Ray the most.

He has SOME value to a non-contender as an expiring contract. But that again, isn’t going to get us a GOOD player who can help us NOW unless it also comes with long term CRAPPY CONTRACT that kills us for the future.

So I don’t see how we are going to get better for this year by trading Ray. The only thing to trade him for will be for future assets.

Contenders won’t be able to give a high draft pick – and we already will have two first round picks PLUS as it stands we’ll be carrying two recent first round picks (Bradley, JJ) into next year’s roster. Together with Smooge and our coming 2nd round pick – that’s 6 roster spots ALREADY slotted to be very, very young next season.

So trading for draft picks only makes sense if it is a high pick or if we have a way to combine picks and move up in the draft.

I’m not saying it can’t be done, but it will require some creative trading on Danny’s part for that to happen.

And until we are for dead certain eliminated from contending, I just don’t think that Danny will make a move like that. Its fine for some of us fans to say, “I don’t believe this team can contend!”, but their opinion means squat to Danny.

Mathematically, if you can get in the playoffs at all then any teams has a chance. And if this team can get in the playoffs healthy, and with a full season of having brought this new bench into the system, then it is not unreasonable to believe it has a chance to make another run. Playoff basketball is dominated by half-court defense – the specialty of this particular merry band. Given that, they’ll always have a chance so long as they have healthy bodies.

So Danny is going to be very cautious before he takes his pieces off the board.

Forgot to mention the injury bug

We would most probably have won in 09 had KG not been injured.

We would probably have won in 10 had Perkins not been injured.

We might have won in 11 had Rondo not been injured.

So……………..

If Rose goes down, Chicago loses. If LeBron goes down, Miami loses. If Durant goes down OKC loses. The other teams are not that viable a threat. I just don’t believe Philly is that good. Nor Dallas, Not the Lakers. If fact , again, barring injury, I expect the Clippers to represent the west.

Let me correct that a bit

“We would probably have won in 10 had Perkins not been injured.”

Nah, we won that…it’s just that Joey Crawford was officiating and decided to give like 21 FTs to the Lakers in the 4th quarter.

Would the bobcats go for this?

Dj Augustine is a restricted free agent at the end of the year and I doubt the bobcats match offers for him since kemba is their guy. So assuming he will be gone after the season then it would be good for them to rent him away for young players to build their team with. So here’s my proposal, we offer Bradley and dooling for Augustine. We get a quality backup pg and we can move Moore back to Allen’s backup at his natural spot. Our lineup looks like
Rondo/Augustine
Allen/Moore
Pierce/pietrus
This helps us a lot I think and we basically give up Bradley for him. We would then just need to figure out rebounding and we are a contender again. As for the bobcats augustine is hurt right now so he’s not even playing for them he’s gone at the end of the season and this makes them worse this season so they get a better pick plus kemba gets plenty of playing time. And they get bradley to develop plus dooling to let kemba rest sometimes
We could even throw in a second round pick (next years I want to use this years on Robbie hummel)

Ray Allen is Celtics

Ray Allen will remain a Celtics, win another championship for the Celtics and retire as a Celtics.
