Oakley:

Garnett left Minnesota and hollered and screamed and all that but he's not a tough guy. He’s one of the weakest guys to ever play the game. He’s a complimentary player and went to Paul Pierce’s team and won a championship. I wouldn’t consider him a top 10 tough guy.

He’s just like Garnett. They holler and complain. If Kendrick Perkins would play basketball, Oklahoma City would win a championship the next 3 or 4 years…[He brings] Nothing [to the table]. That’s why he got dunked on and he got mad about someone tweeting about it, you’re a power forward, you don’t let guys dunk on you. I played 18, 19 years I got dunked on 3 times, you’re limited on offense do something on defense, get a rebound make some free throws.

I just want to know.....

the names of three guys who managed to dunk on him.

I agree that KG and probably even Perk aren’t tough in the way Oakley means.

KG is a complimentary player…but one of the best in today’s game. Calling him one of the weakest players to ever play is over the top. Garnet is (was) one the most coordinated, skilled 7 footers ever to play. I’ll take that over strength.

Oakley was one of the most physical players, but certainly not one the most skilled.

I always thought Perk do do a bit more in the rebound dept.

Agree but....

Kevin McHale said they tried to have him be the go-to guy and he has shown to really be better used as a facilitator. (paraphase)

I don’t disagree. Garnett is, for the most part, not comfortable as to the go-to guy for a team. He is the ultimate team player. And with the way he plays, I am just fine with that.

that is...

“Perk could do a bit more.”

Perk

He’s against us tonight so lets hope he doesn’t do much. It would be nice to see JJ dunk on him.

KG is a very solid player. I don’t see him as tough (dirty as Oakley or Lambier type guys).

Why does his opinion matter at all?

He's sort of right

About Perk. But about KG, if KG was a complimentry player on a championship team what does that make Oakley? A role player on a bunch of teams that never won a championship.

KG has been the best player on this Celtics team for the majority of the time. I don’t take much out of what older players say even Magic and Michael because they constantly dwell in the “back in my day” nostalgia, which gets annoying very fast.

There are exceptions, obviously, but a lot of them seem stuck in the past, which is understandable but once again very annoying.

Sour grapes!

I like Oakley, but he’s clearly bitter. You don’t take shots at guys like Garnett, Barkley and Perkins. To call Garnett and CB34 a complimentary players is ridiculous or false. Complimentary players don’t get MVP’s. Perkins isn’t a great player, but good role player that teams adore.

Fighting other players doesn’t make u tough. Talking about getting dunked only 3 times is nothing to brag about if he considers himself a defensive player. You don’t contest shots or dunks, then you get benched. Anyway what is Oakley talking about? CB34 used to smack him around. Didn’t tough guys Oakley get beat up some bouncers in Vegas.

Who cares what a cranky old guy who played when the league allowed clothes lines, grabbing, holding thinks.. oakley either needs to be in the league. Aka coach or just shut up and move on. It’s him trying to keep his name out there.
