1) danny’s comments that sometimes you have to do a move to do a future move..
2 doc’s comments that you have to have the players in place so free agents would want to come..
3) word is that Orlando is not high on bynum…
4) bynum wants to be the guy on a team.
It would seem that getting bynum would be more sensible for the celts than gasol.. he is 24 and about to enter his prime years.. obviously there is the huge injury risk, but assuming their medical staff felt ok with his knees, its probably a chance you have to take..you would have to include rondo.. but significantly easier to rebuild around the second best center in the league than the 4th to 8th best point guard..
I'm thinking a 3 team trade between Boston, LAL, and Orlando remains a strong possibility..
Couple of options for this..
Celts Trade Pierce, Rondo
Trade, Gasol & Bynum
Trade: Howard and Nelson
Celts Receive Bynum
Lakers Receive Howard, Pierce, Nelson
Orlando Receives Gasol & Rondo
Obviously you have to be able to stomach the thought of the lakers winning this year, but with all the changes so late in the year it might be tough to have the right chemistry.. but Orlando gets two all stars for howard (gasol not this year, but all star caliber player).. two good passers to compliment a team of good shooters…reddick, Anderson, Richardson, turk….
Lakers improve at point and small forward, their 2 biggest weaknesses, and also get howard, huge coupe for them…
Celts get bynum to either build around or trade… think about it for a second.. they would then next year have only bynum with a big contract… tons of flexibility to build a team around him.. suddenly deron williams becomes a very realistic possibility as he can’t team up with howard anymore... he could stay on a terrible jersey team, go to an ancient dallas team, or come to boston and team up with bynum.. could sign another free agent as well, and prob bring back green, along with using draft picks.. or if didn’t think route was going to work, a trade on draft night of bynum plus our pick and clippers would have to put us in line for a very high draft pick, maybe even the top spot depending on the team…
trade could also be tweaked to see pierce on the magic instead of LAL.. something like
Bos-- Rondo and Pierce
LAL-- Gasol and Bynum
Orlando- Howard, Nelson, Turk
Bos still gets bynum
LAL get howard, nelson and turk
Orlando gets, Bynum, Pierce, and Rondo..
Do you do this trade?
Very few gm's probably would bc of the injury risk, but ainge is not afraid to take big gambles..
