Better them than the Heat or Lakers.
But still, that’s a lot of quality PFs.

I agree.

Solid move for the Clips
This is going to be a scary team by the end of the year. The Celts’ draft pick from them is not going to be worth squat
Disagree. Any first round pick this year is going to be worth more than 'squat'.
That pick is currently #24. How far do you think it will fall?
Serge Ibaka was a #24 pick. I’d call that a little more than squat.
Rudy Fernandez, Kyle Lowry, Delonte West – all were recent #24 picks.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt? Incompetent? Which is worse? Does it matter? It sucks.
The Clips aren't true contenders yet.
Let this team and its nucleus of players advance past the first round once before labeling them a contender (not that you did, you just said ‘scary’).
Hype doesn’t equal championships. There is usually a well-trodden path to the Finals, ignoring what our own Celtics did in 2008.
I still don’t think Griffin is ready – so little actual experience. Paul and Billups will have to carry this team come playoff time. They could make a run, but the Spurs, Mavs, and Lakers have already been there, and OKC is a bit further along than LAC. And, watch out for tough outs like Denver, Portland and Memphis. The West is tough.
Disagree
There is about 4-5 teams that have legimate shot at coming out of West:
Thunder, Mavs, Lakers, Clips and the Spurs (Griz and Blazers can cause upsets, but not great enough to win in the WCF)
Those 5 are capable of beating each other at any given time. I don’t really think one has a higher chance than the other. Perhaps the Thunder got the most talent and the depth, but they will still lose games with Westbrook being Westbrook. Mavs got the experience but without Chandler, they are struggling vs teams with big men. For ex. Lakers, Clips, and the Mavs can all beat them in a 5 or 7 game series.
Same with the Lakers. They are very beatable. Teams with atheletism such as the Thunder and the Clips can beat them.
And we all know what the Spurs can and cannot do.
The Clips will get better as the season progresses. And we’ve all seen what Chris Paul can do in the playoffs. He single-handley carried the Hornets for a couple of years (esp the year with West out). Remeber the series vs the Lakers? Him and Chauncey can do their thing and their big men now with Jordan, Griffin, and Martin look stronger than ever.
The Clips are a true contender my friend. Just like the 3-4 other teams I mentioned.
Why? Because they are good enough to come out of West.
"I’m going to probably fade to black,’’ he said. "To be honest, I’m not a showman guy. I’m going to fade to black. I don’t know what I will do. I’m an idealist. I have a high drive and I’m very determined. Fade to black, man, like evaporate.’’
Really...?
To put the lakers ahead of portland or the grizzlies? That is like saying Toronto will upset the celtics….. Crazy huh? The lakers are a full force team, grizzlies are nursing Gay (though I’d assume he is 100% now). Oh and Z Randolph not playing? Yet they’ve done that well… I’m sorry but they deserve much more credit.
Portland – well I don’t have as compelling of an argument I just have a soft spot for L
Aldridge and Crash. I think I’d take portland over lakers though, especially if Oden would be healthy. (Honestly I can’t say much on that)
On topic: Good move for the clips, curious to see how minutes pan out. Blake obviously demands over 35 mins a game and Martin is used to 20+. I def see this as bringing the clippers up in their abilities. More or less just glad Martin went there because he just helps a top 5 or 6 team be top 3-5. Which is better than turning the heat into even better.

They are almost certainly not going to be in the lottery for a change this year.
Not unless CP3 & Griffen both get injured.
So the pick will likely vest this year and while it would be great if it was #11, it is more likely to be somewhere right around where it is now – #24 or so.
Adding Martin gives them depth at an already strong position. I don’t see it as a huge difference maker.

yea thats the point of my post
So the clippers playing better this year is not that bad after all. We can cash out the pick this year despite it might be a bit lower.
Fantastic news for the Celtics!!!
Martin would have improved either the Bulls or Heat, so this is a good day for the Cs.
I dunno
After what Denver did to them last night this move didnt really cover thier flaws.

good
hopefully he’ll at a little toughness for them and give Kobe some nice, hard fouls — just because I can’t stand Kobe.
