As much as I'd like to see Mikael Pietrus reunited with a fellow Frenchman, the Celtics really need to stay away from Boris Diaw. News out of Charlotte is that he's been bought out and added to the buffet of big men that the Celtics are looking at.
OBSSERVER EXCLUSIVE: Bobcats and Boris Diaw agree in principle on contract buyout. More coming.— Rick Bonnell (@rick_bonnell) March 21, 2012
If this were 2006 Boris Diaw, I'd do it in a heartbeat, but 2006 Boris Diaw wouldn't have been released either. Diaw was such a talent with the Suns, but after he was rewarded with a big contract, he ate himself into obscurity. A kick in the pants and playing along side KG might jump start Diaw's career, but frankly, we don't have time for that. Maybe this summer we take a flyer out on him if he shed's some weight, but right now, we're in panic mode and I don't even think Diaw has the energy to walk across the room and pick up the phone if Danny calls. The Herald is reporting that league sources say that we're going after Ryan Hollins and possibly Kyrylo Fesenko, energy guys that can literally run circles around Boris Diaw. Those are sound options in my book; we need guys that are hungry for playing time, not Happy Meals.
