Sometimes, updating news for my fellow Celtics fans sucks. From tonight's game:
Boston Celtics guard Mickael Pietrus appeared to suffer a serious head injury during the second quarter of Friday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers and was taken off the court on a stretcher.
There was no immediate word from the team on his condition.
We will keep you updated on Pietrus' condition. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
According to the AP, Mickael Pietrus has been hospitalized with what's being termed a "questionable closed head injury." No word from C's.— Chris Forsberg (@ESPNForsberg) March 24, 2012
The team offered encouraging news late Friday night, terming the injury a questionable closed head injury (concussion) and noting that Pietrus was undergoing tests but would not be admitted to the hospital. Instead, he simply stayed the night in the Philadelphia area and was scheduled to be re-evaluated on Saturday.
The long-term prognosis of his injury is still to be determined, but being discharged served as a rare dose of optimistic health news.
