Honestly I have hated the way Rondo has played the last week or two. I know he had that huge triple double against the knicks but his play concerns me. He is constantly driving to the hoop getting within two feet from the hoop yet shoots few free throws. I understand the guy is a poor free throw shooter but when he gets to the line it gives guys like Paul Pierce and Ray Allen a chance to get to the line more. In addition attacking the hoop makes it easier for Rondo to make his patented drive and dump down for a Brandon Bass dunk.
I understand that Rondo is a pass first point guard who would much rather have ten assists then ten points but when teams never have to fear him driving and putting his shoulder in there chests it makes us so much easier to stop. When is Rondo going to step up and knock down the open shot. It's sad that I feel more confident in Avery Bradleys offensive ability then I do Rondos.
Another thing Rondo getting to the line brings is the ability to get our defense set. We have one of the best half court defenses in the league.Less opportunities for fast break points. Rondo has only shot at least ten free throws five times all season. In order for the Cs to be competitive when KG and BBs 16 ft jumpers arent falling we need Rondo to be able to take over. He's open A LOT and if he could knock down a shot that isn't directly from the elbow the Cs would be better off.
NOTE: The only game in the last 15 in which he shot at least ten free throws was a win.
