With the Celtics laying low this week and resting up for the playoffs, my attention is wandering. I've been reading a lot of mock drafts, and I'm curious what rookies you guys would be excited to see drafted by the Celtics next year. Here is a poll with the names of some players that might fall to us.
I'm getting excited about Royce White. I am easily excited by upside, but i think that it's crazy to expect players who haven't produced in college to become anything in the NBA. With White, you have serious collegiate production combined with big upside. The downside is a Michael Beasley-like rap for poor conditioning and immaturity. There is also this anxiety disorder business. Without those negative factors, I think White would be a lottery pick. As a late first rounder, he would be more like a lottery ticket for us. The part you know for sure is that he plays smart, he can pass, he can create, and he can rebound. Scouting reports frequently compare him to Lebron James and Boris Diaw.
